weluvcruisin' Posted March 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2005 Hi, can anyone give me suggestions for a Hotel in San Diego, close to Port/Airport.
Sprocket Posted March 2, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2005 The Holiday Inn on the Bay seems to be the one most recommended on these boards. It is not far from the airport,( they do provide shuttle service) and you can walk across the street to the pier. Very convenient. There are also supposed to be some very good restaurants nearby, seafood etc. We will most likely be staying here pre-cruise in April. Bev
Trixsea Posted March 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2005 I stayed at the Sheraton Harbor Island and liked it very much. They did provide transportation from the airport, but not the pier. The hotel is on the water and has great dining and pool areas.

Sprocket Posted March 5, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2005 Sure I'd be happy to. I understand they also provide shuttle service to the zoo, etc so perhaps we won't need to rent a car. We will arrive at the airport shortly after 10am, does anybody know if it is worthwhile after checking in to make plans to go to the zoo that day? I think it closes about 4pm, will that give us enough time? Bev
seattlecruiser Posted March 8, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2005 We stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Bay last week before our Oosterdam cruise. The hotel was fine, staff friendly and just across the street from the terminal. Ask for a room in the South Tower with a bay view and when you wake up in the morning, it will look like the bow of the ship is almost in your room. We were also told by the front desk that a porter would pick up your bags in your room and get you on a hotel shuttle for the drive across the street. We choose to walk. They also have a free shuttle from the airport.

Ask for a room in the South Tower with a bay view Hey Seattle -- I have a rezie there for our October cruise to Mexico, but I only requested a "bayview" room. Should I definitely call to specifically ask for the South tower? What's wrong with the other tower? Thanks--
bbiggar Posted June 16, 2005 #8 Share Posted June 16, 2005 We had a room facing the bay and it was great. I believe this was not in the tower, but the other section of the hotel. The ship is really just outside your window. We got up early in the morning to see the ships pull into port, what a beautiful site!
