I don't want to spend a lot of money on Belize, but I do want to get off the ship. should we go to the Belize zoo or stay in the torist village. Any advice?:confused:

I would do the city and country tour. You can book right off the tenders. There will be plenty of vendors holding signs for their tours. We paid around $25.00 for the tour.

Depending upon what ship you are on, be prepared for a change of itinerary to Costa Maya or Grand Cayman. These are both changes for the better.:cool:

We were in a nice extended van which drove around the city and the guide pointed out historical sites and he gave a lecture about his country. At one point we stopped to visit a church which was built from old world ships.

We drove out into the country and stopped at a few souvenir places and to get something to drink along the river. Its hot and humid in the rainforest.:) We felt safe, did not notice anything unusual. You will see poverty in Belize. The souvenirs were not junk, we brought home some very nice hand made wood carvings.
