B746/7 Balcony Question

On the Sapphire -- can anyone tell me if this hull cut out balcony is totally self-contained -- does it share "air space" at the top with the balcony next to it? I am hoping the wall separating it from the next balcony runs completely to the top with no open air space and is not the partial plastic wall that separates all the other balconies. Thank you!

Mina:

My wife and I just came back from a Sydney/Auckland tour on Diamond Princess, sister ship of Sapphire. We stayed at cabin B746. I can tell you the wall is completely separated from next cabin, from top to bottom. You will only have one neighbor cabin to your right. See photo attached.

It has a very spacious balcony because of the angle. Highly recommend this cabin.

If you do a search on the Princess board with that cabin # there are a few threads with photos on this cabin.

Baja 747 on the Sapphire is my all time favorite cabin. I agree with above poster the balcony is separated and "cut out". Neither side felt plastic to me as I recall. It is a very different shape, mostly covered top, it makes me feel like a cave and you get a fantastic of the entire side of the ship, but no view looking aft toward the wake. I have been in it twice and loved it! :)

Enjoy it if you take it.

Hi Wendy

We travelled on the Diamond Princess Sydney to Japan back in March in B746 and loved our cabin - the balcony is cut out of the hull and and is at an angle so you can see all the way along the side of the ship, but it is very private - no one can see you unless you are looking over the rail - it also had a bit more space because of the angle than the other balconies that our friends had.

Also the cabin is at the end of the corridor ( near the suite which looked fabulous - had a sneaky peak) and therefore we had no noise at all from people passing our cabin.

Plenty of room in the cabin - loads of wardrobe storage - shower was a good size - we really enjoyed our trip on the Diamond - great ship.

Have tried to attach a couple of pictures hope you can view them - the cabin's balcony is the one cut out of the metal at the back of the ship and the other is the view along the ship from the balcony standing at the railing

all the best Diane
