DEERINH2O Posted February 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2011 We are thinking of taking the Amtrak down to New Orleans. Does anyone know where the station is located? We would be coming down a day earlier, so we would want a hotel for the night before the cruise. Any suggestions would be great. THanks, Kathy
firefly333 Posted February 3, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2011 I did see a train station, as I was coming out of french qtr, near where all the freeways come and cross together. Its not but a couple of miles from french quarter, cant be 5 miles to the port. I think its doable with a taxi to a hotel.
Sargent_Schultz Posted February 4, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2011 The station is downtown http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=am/am2Station/Station_Page&code=NOL It isn't too far from the Holiday Inn Super Dome which has a shuttle to the port and other places or there are maybe 35,000 other rooms available within a few miles, including the French Quarter, the Warehouse and Convention Center areas, etc.
terryinal Posted February 15, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2011 Just went on the train this weekend. It is next to the dome. It was 11.00 taxi to town. It was only 10.00 going back.
