Amalfi Coast - Alternative Restaurant with a View

Hi all,

We are a family of 4 looking to enjoy a simple and quick lunch at a restaurant with a view - we want to take in some fresh local cuisine (pizza or pasta - we sadly are not seafood lovers) before we continue on with our day. I have read all of the posts about La Tagliatele and a few others, and they sound amazing, but we have simple tastes and also have a long list of things we want to do with our private tour driver that day...

We will be going to Ravello, Positano and Amalfi and possibly other small villages from our local base in Sorrento.

Let me know of any hidden gems out there! Thanks!

If you are going private your guide/driver should be a wealth of info and start with that.

Its a busy day, lots of driving, you might appreciate a leisure lunch. We did our's with RIL and they took us to a nice sit down place between Amalfi and Ravello. Wasn't quick, but views to die for and food from pizza to fancy stuff.

Good luck

From your pictures, I'm sure we ate at the same place in Pontone. It was a family owned place and they just kept on bringing us plates of appetizers, pasta, pizza, desserts and of course wine and limoncello. Also we are not seafood lovers either. It was one of the best place we ate at in Italy. The view overlooking the Med was to die for!

We had a great lunch at Chez Black right on the beach at the "base" or lower level of wonderful and scenic Positano. Below is one of pictures for this great area. I great seafood stew there. I'm sure they have other dining options to enjoy with such a wonderful view right in front of your dining table.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Positano is uniquely built along the slopping mountain side. Here's an artist's view as he paints this scenic site.

We are cruising here in Sept and am concerned that lunch will take away from the tours. As a result of lunch (assuming 1 hour) did you feel rushed at any places. We are thinking of eating on the run so we do not miss out on seeing the sites properly.

What time does RIL get you back to the ship ?

We also have them booked in Rome and have the same question with regards lunch.

It is all in what you want, but for me our lunch high in the hills over the coast (same place as above) was a highlight of our day and our whole trip. We had time to see Herculaneum and then drive the entire Amalfi coast stopping at all the lookoffs. We did not walk around any towns except where we ate. We were with Marcello of seesorrento

It will be easy to get a fast, cheap, tasty lunch at a cafe, probably without a view, or a nice leisurely lunch at a restaurant with a great view.

Most nice restaurants will be (at least privately) aghast at the thought that you would want to hurry when there is such a nice view and such good food to be savoured.

If time is the most important thing, forget the view, and opt for the little cafe on the quiet back street. Delicious, quick, and usually inexpensive lunch, with more time to enjoy the view from some other location.
