Do you decorate your cabin door?

We used to decorate our cabin door and just used scotch tape to hold things on. It looks very nice seeing everyone's decorations, flags, balloons, etc. That said, I've been on many cruises where a few kids on board tear everything down 'for fun', so I don't bother anymore. I just rely on my memory now and try not to open the wrong cabin door!

I guess it's and ego thing but last fall I made up a computer generated sign that has Cruise Critic , the CC logo and my avatar and my CC name. The sign is on card stock, measures about 4"X11" and has a few pieces of magnetic tape on the back. We have now taken it on 5 cruises and put on our cabin door.

Hubby and I have never personally decorated our door, but our last cruise fell over our wedding anniversary and some of our group decorated our door. It definitely made it much easier to find our cabin! They used scotch tape to stick up some of our wedding photos and had a huge card with a pen so people could sign. We still have the card - had some lovely wishes from total strangers so it was always fun to come back to our room and find good wishes jotted on our card!

ALWAYS...love it and we get lots of good comments from people jealous they didn't think of it. I have gotten a couple things taken over the years (by kids, I am sure) but I never put anything I can't afford to lose on the door. I stick the stuff on with the blue painters tape - comes off clean - no sticky mess.

Like the balcony idea also - never thought of that:o

i did up a sign for our cruise critic group for our last sailing and our friends decided to add to it by putting all our friend's pictures on it, but they were not the most flattering pictures, or at least mine wasn't.\

so we snuck and got the sign and went back to our cabin and started cutting and pasting faces from my People magazine over the ones in the sign.

and then we crept back and replaced the photo! :D

Hi there, last cruise I printed off photos with pictures (sea related, turtles, boats , fish ect) with thier first names for each cabin (no surname or photos of the people). Then stuck them to sticky sheet magnets. This year Im going to find photos of the boat put thier names and the date and the cruise.

That way you can take them home and put on the fridge with all the other magnets.

:D

Ginny love your idea.

I have decorated the door and the balcony. It is fun to look up while in port and be able to pick out your cabin.

Thanks for all of your replies :)

CasinoVisitor - what do you decorate your balcony with while in Port? I see that UpcountryTravelers used their state flag - nice!

Yes we decorate our cabin door with magnetic artwork that I make for the trip. I like it so I do it.:) Also helps in locating our door amongst the 100 other doors that look alike. Especially after a rum punch.:D I also bring a tropical twirly for our balcony. Sea days it is great to sit out there with it blowing in the wind and port days we can locate our cabin right away from the dock.

No.

Don't get it.

To those that do decorate: Do you decorate your hotel room doors when staying on land?

I doubt they do and I also don't think they would dine at a table with 8 other strangers either. There's something about being on a ship that makes people act strangely.
