FLHugh Posted February 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Anyone know why the Taxes/Fees portion of the final fare is the same amount regardless of how much you pay for the stateroom?
firefly333 Posted February 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 9, 2011 The taxes are the same on all cruiselines pretty much, regardless of which cabin you choose. they are not like sales taxes, which are a percentage, which is what Im guessing you are thinking of. I do have a booking for 3 people and they charged less for taxes and fees for pax #3, so Im not positive, but either taxes dropped by $4 or RCL might charge less for pax #3 and #4. G'ma Posted February 9, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Anyone know why the Taxes/Fees portion of the final fare is the same amount regardless of how much you pay for the stateroom? Taxes and fees have nothing to do with the fare. The reason they are the same is this: They are the per person fee charged by EACH port of call and the portage fee for docking. Most island and other ports also charge a "head tax" for each passenger...
FLHugh Posted February 9, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted February 9, 2011 Thanks to both who replied. G'Ma, any idea why the Taxes/Fees would be less for Pax #3 in firefly333's booking? Also, your reply would seem to indicate there is NO sales tax on cruises? Is that correct? I think it may be since the Taxes/Fees seem to be the same regardless of where the supplier is located.. ie. no variation state to state.. Thanks for any info!
