caribbeanboy Posted February 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2011 During dry dock the WIFI capabilities of the ship has been greatly extended and now you can internet from your cabin. Looks like a nice addition to me.

mjldvlks Posted February 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 10, 2011 The bigger improvement would be speed. If they can achieve dial up speed it would be huge.
Palmetto Pilot Posted February 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2011 The internet is not where I want to be when I'm on vacation anyway. The Royal Caribbean Online was enough if I needed it.
seaofwonder Posted February 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 10, 2011 It was there when I was onboard in April 2010.
sjcruiser Posted February 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted February 10, 2011 They started running the cables on our cruise before the Liberty went into drydock. There were some issues with the service before then, so we can wait to get back onboard to see how well it works now in the cabins.
alexkrn46 Posted February 10, 2011 #10 Share Posted February 10, 2011 I was onboard in 2008 and it work in my cabin. Perhaps is fixed but not new.

Loucat Posted February 11, 2011 #12 Share Posted February 11, 2011 YEAH! I teach online and do not ever have time away from grading, so this is like heaven to hear. I am so tired of "hot spots". This may offset the idea of having a large screen TV over the pool area. We have spent hours finding spots that have good wifi, no noise and plug in capacity. I actually used the chapel on one cruise to grade student work

elephant98 Posted February 11, 2011 #16 Share Posted February 11, 2011 This is nothing new...it has been that way since the ship was built. Was the entire ship Wi-Fi when it was built? RCCL's blog implies that this is a new feature. http://www.nationofwhynot.com/blog/?p=3270

cruisegirl1 Posted February 11, 2011 #23 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Thanks - op - for the info. We cruise 5 or 6 times each year so the cruise is not necessarily a “vacation”, just where we happen to be that week. It is better for us to conduct some business, and many clients do not realize we are out of town or the country. We keep the internet correspondence to a minimum, but still need to make some contract at least every other day. M
Cruzface Posted February 12, 2011 #24 Share Posted February 12, 2011 I'm sorry, I was making a joke out of it. I bring my laptop too. No apology necessary. I hate having to do it. The best thing about a cruise is being out of touch with reality.
