Sargent_Schultz Posted February 28, 2011 #101 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Great review! Can't wait for Conquest to come home to New Orleans! And, of course, what kind of camera did you use? :D

idreaminpink Posted February 28, 2011 Author #103 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Thanks guys! It really is a great ship and I'll admit I'm a bit sad to see it go. For those who asked, my pocket camera is a Canon Powershot SD1100 IS. Most of the pictures were taken with that. The DSLR we had was a Nikon D40. Hubby was upset about the "turtle tank" incident at first, but now says he has a good excuse to buy a new DSLR lmao.
anniversarycruisin' Posted February 28, 2011 #104 Share Posted February 28, 2011 I just had to get on here and say 'thank you so much' for your wonderful review. The hubby and I will be on the Conquest in May, and seeing all of those pics of your sweet daughter and her infectious smile....kind of made me wish we were taking our grandson. Now I am thinking he would have such an awesome time! Your daughter's face lighting up made us all want to be on a cruise!! Thanks for sharing. Those outdoor pictures there and outside on the ship were amazing with the clarity! So were several of your dd. She's cute anyway so it's easy to make great pics with a cute subject. ;) My dh just purchased a new camera for me for our upcoming cruise. This is why I was interested. Nothing overly fancy. He got the Canon Powershot SX130 IS.

She's cute anyway so it's easy to make great pics with a cute subject. ;) My dh just purchased a new camera for me for our upcoming cruise. This is why I was interested. Nothing overly fancy. He got the Canon Powershot SX130 IS. The 2 of us with the dolphins were actually taken by the professional photographer, we got a CD of all those pics. All the rest were taken with the Canon, except the ones of our cabin and the ones at the Turtle Farm, those were shot with the Nikon (aside from the one of all 3 of us). Oh and the one of the rainbow off the balcony, I snapped that one with the Nikon. But I've had really good luck with that Canon! It was a hand me down from a friend who upgraded actually, but it's been great. I do use the manual settings a lot, like for the shots I took of the inside the ship. For outside shots I usually use auto, but I like to force a flash if my subject is in a shadow or has too much back light, like this pic for example... If you want a secret this was the original version, when I realized how dark it was I just set the flash from auto to on. I'm sure you'll love your Canon! :)
Mickey B Posted March 1, 2011 #109 Share Posted March 1, 2011 I have to say your daughter is the cutest little ball of smiles I have ever seen! So adorably cute! The turtles look like fun!
t1adams Posted March 1, 2011 #110 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Thanks for the tips! I think the Canon makes just as good shots as the other one. I actually like the lighter colored shot of your dd better anyway. She looks more relaxed! She's adorable either way though. :D
idreaminpink Posted March 1, 2011 Author #111 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Thank you all so much for your kind words about my daughter, they mean more to me than you know :) Without over-sharing (too late, right? lol) I'll just say that little girl has been through a lot in her short life, luckily most of it she doesn't remember, and through it all she has always been a very happy child and always kept that smile. I hope her good attitude and perseverance follows her into adulthood. She truly is the light of my life! Ok enough sappy stuff ;) And now as promised, the Fun Times from our trip (finally). The bad news is I can't find the little tear off strips with the all day schedule, and I can't find one for day 5 at all. But I was able to find the camp carnival ones so hopefully that will help someone! On a side note I did notice that the second internet happy hour was in fact advertised in the Fun Times on the back, it just wasn't in the top ten or in the tear out strip that day so I missed it. :o Camp Carnival 2-5 Year Olds: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eYTg5OGY1YzEtOWExNS00OTk5LTkwOTYtZGRhMzk4ZGZlZjQ1&hl=en&authkey=CMzR9fIG Fun Times Sunday: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eMTVjMDZkZGQtMWFiMS00MmUzLTlkNjQtNjU0MjVhNWNiYzFh&hl=en&authkey=CKLu8bgI Fun Times Monday (Sea Day): https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eYWFjNzg3ZmItNDAzOS00NzQ4LTkzYTMtMTY3NzQ0N2NiYmRk&hl=en&authkey=CKOkpPEI Fun Times Tuesday (Sea Day): https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eYzE3OTM5MTYtMDBhNi00ZmI0LTlkZGQtYmQwMDYzNWUyNTZl&hl=en&authkey=CKrZxlI Fun Times Wednesday (Montego Bay): https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eMjJmMGU4N2ItNWM0MC00N2I1LWE5NjUtMDQ2YTlmNWVjNzc0&hl=en&authkey=CKCdl88F Missing Thursday's (Cayman Islands) :( Fun Times Friday (Cozumel): https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eOTNkOGIyYTItMGQwNS00ZjZmLTllNWEtYTUyNTQxYzM1Njdk&hl=en&authkey=CJHi1JIL Fun Times Saturday (Sea Day) and bonus "Spa Specials" from Wednesday: https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B9YS0fpP8_4eYWE0YWZiNjAtNmI5YS00MDcyLWE1ZjctZGQ0MjY4ZDAwMGFl&hl=en&authkey=CPbFw-AK
