agc291 Posted February 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2011 Neither of us have done scuba before so we are looking at the discover scuba excursions offered through Carnival. I know that we probably could find them cheaper but $100 pp doesnt seem so bad and we wont be left:eek: My question is which island should we do this on, St. Thomas or St. Maarten? Neither says where exactly we would go and both are close in price and length of excursion. Anyone done either of these or done scuba diving at either island? We have done it in St. Maarten, have snorkeled many times in st.t, st. John but not done a scuba there. I would probably go for St. T just on better overall water/reef quality. The begginer scuba in St. M was good, with a couple old wrecks and a sub they had sunk there, but the water was pretty murkey and it was close to the port, you could hear boat traffic underwater, not much in the way of sea life either. They said it was a 30 foot max dive but in reality it was closer to 50. Either way, have fun!

TTz Posted February 16, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2011 I have done the discover @ St. Thomas through Carnival. They go through a dive shop right on Coki Beach. I had Stephen Hale as my instructor...and looking back on it now that I am an advanced diver, He was very good. I highly recommend doing the St. Thomas dive. It's a beach dive with a TON of stuff to see. No wrecks, but lots of sea life. I would love to go back there and dive again. Hope that helps,

ErikNYC Posted April 6, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2011 Just wanted to update... we did this discover scuba excursion at Coki Beach on St Thomas through Carnival and it was awesome!! We would highly recommend it! Good to know. I would like to do this excursion however my other half doesn't swim (sadly). Is there any way I can still bring her along, even just to stay on the boat and watch?
