Hotels in NOLA

I've read on the boards that several cruisers choose to stay in a hotel the day before embarkation and they get free parking for the week from the hotel. Is this true? What hotels do this? The cheaper the better for us. We will be on the Spirit leaving May 15. The reason I'm curious is that we only live 5 hours from NOLA, but it might be beneficial for us to stay the night in NOLA anyway, since embarkation is mid-day.

Do a google search for "park stay and cruise" New Orleans, should find many options.

It looks like the cheapest option is to park at the Fulton Garage ($12/day) for the week instead of staying the night at a hotel. We will simply leave at the crack of dawn the day of.

We stayed at Marriott Convention Center. It was $181. and some change. But, that was at the beginning of Mardi Gras. I think they also offer a $99 rate when not during Mardi Gras. There is a code you use to get the park and cruise rate.

Actually, we are having to pay for our Park and Cruise option at the Drury Inn...I asked for a package but parking for the week is an additional $35 or $40

I can almost always get Holiday Inn Superdome for $99 which includes parking and shuttle to the port.

 

Not cheaper than just paying for parking, but cheaper for those of us who like to arrive the day before and play in the french qtr. Iv used them twice. Drury once.

slight exaggeration. They arent all over $150 a night.

 

Its $16 a day at the port...still a bargain for me at $99 a night, plus taxes. And a night in the french qtr.

I just called today to book a room at Holiday Inn Superdome in NOLA for Oct. Price was $209. plus tax.

I think you have to book online to get the cheaper prices. And some places you have to know the codes to put in. Did you ask them about a park and cruise rate?

I called the Holiday Inn on Royal, one block from Bourbon, and got a room for $199 for park and cruise.

 

Has anyone stayed here? Is it a nice hotel and how is the parking garage spacing?

When I made reservations a few weeks ago at the Drury for May 28, 2011 cruise parking was an additional $50.

We are booked at the Drury for June 2011, 50.00 to park for week of cruise. Last year we paid 35.00 for the week.:eek: But we really like the hotel, is it's worth it to us.

what?? I wonder why and if they had a problem or why they would do this. I hope its extended. I love the Drury but need parking.

I'm going to stay at the Hampton Inn Convention Center. The room can be either a king or two doubles and costs $129 for one night (plus tax). But parking for that night is free. They have free breakfast, free shuttle to and from the pier, and will garage park your car for $10 per day while you're gone. That saves $42 on a seven night cruise. How many drinks is that? :D

FYI - I just called and they will not be offering park and cruise after August - at least for a little while. They are tearing up the parking lot and building a parking garage.

I just called to check on a Saturday night stay - since the cruise leaves on Sunday and was told by reservations that it was not available for a Saturday night arrival but it is for Sunday?? Strange since cruises leave out of New Orleans on Sundays - who would want to stay the night the cruise ship leaves???

Some people may stay a night after the cruise to sightsee or jusy rest up before going back home.

Keep in mind that Carnival has two ships here, too, with 4,5 & 7 night cruises, so people are coming and going all the time.
