pspercy Posted September 9, 2013 #27 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Obviously we were joking about it but they were so small and unlike the "good stuff" ! As an aside the fall of the USSR had great fallout in the Caspian Sea area in that the strict controls on caviar production went by the wayside and poaching flourished to the extent that the "good stuff" is fast disappearing, likely for ever. parrotfeathers Posted September 9, 2013 #28 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I also read the same information. I haven't caught and cleaned bream in a long time and might not ever again! :) Obviously we were joking about it but they were so small and unlike the "good stuff" ! eldolko Posted September 27, 2013 #29 Share Posted September 27, 2013 When we had caviar at the Champagne bar on Allure in July 2011 I asked our bartender what kind of caviar it was. She told me it was Beluga caviar. I'm not sure if I should believe her or not. It sounds kind of expensive to hand out complimentary in a bar like that. She kept it coming until we told he we couldn't fit another bite. Here is what we were served:
