Anybody Notice a Decline in Food Quality...

... as the cruise winds down? My wife and I have been on many cruises and on the last three of them, food quality, particularly in the "altenate" restaurants, seemed to go to pop on the last two days of the cruise.

As examples: On the RCCL Adventure of the Seas,, the bars served nothing but top quality on the first day out. Even the bar snacks were Planters fancy mixed nuts. As the cruise went on, the drinks were weaker and the snacks became plainer, finally descending to puffed rice snacks. The alternate restaurant went from fresh to stale breads and leftovers from the main dining room.

On the Carnival Legend, just last month, the Unicorn cafe on the last two nights served moldy (yes, moldy) bread and the meats went from carved beef, lamb or pork to recycled stuff made into a pasta dish or casserol.

Has anyone else noticed this trend?

I think it depends on where the ship is. On my Alaska cruises, the food was outstanding the whole time, and I saw them loading food at every port. I'd think that if you're cruising somewhere where they can't get fresh ingredients at ports, like a Transatlantic, the freshness would decline. But no, on my three cruises I haven't noticed that.

Just returned from Navigator 02/05/05 sailing and The food was outstanding from beginning to end in all restaurants. Bread was fresh baked everyday. Sorry you had a bad experience. I do know that RCCL is improving it's food fleetwide with new menus and different things in the dining room.
