we are flying out of toronto airport in april to go to Miami on the Majesty of the Seas for our Honeymoon. Can you bring alcohol (wine) on the airplane, in the checked luggage? Or....is there somewhere near or in the Miami airport that we could purchase a couple bottles of wine? Or.....how much is a bottle of wine on the ship and are we allowed to leave it in our room for the week?

You can, but if you're going to do that you must take care to make sure that it's well packed and will not break despite the degree of baggage throwing that inevitably takes place. The trick is to make sure that it's mechanically insulated: Don't put glass directly against glass, as that will make it prone to breaking if the hard surfaces knock together. Also make sure that every part of the bottle is reasonably well supported so that (for example) torsional forces don't knock off the neck of the bottle, which could happen if the neck is next to an open cavity but the body of the bottle is restrained by other things in the suitcase, and something strikes the neck end of the bottle.

But if you pack it properly, there should be no problem. I have often flown half a dozen bottles of wine from New Zealand to the UK in my checked baggage, without incident.
