Mist_ynight Posted February 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2011 So it's the night before our cruise and I'm doing up a budget so I know exactly where our money is being spent. A little late I know but I don't want to wind up forgetting something and it popping up to surprise me in the end. We drink very little so that won't be a surprise and we don't eat in specialty resturants. Here is what I have, am I missing anything? Tips Drink Cards (UKP for DH, soda card for me) Excursions Ultimate ship tour (I really hope I can get this) Pictures Extra cash Tips (If I think they earned it, even though I know they will) I've also accounted for the possible oil surcharge even though I don't expect it to hit us. Thanks for the help :)
Nancyquilts Posted February 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2011 So long as you don't hang out in the casino, I think you've covered most of your costs. :D Souvenirs?
cactusrose Posted February 26, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2011 There is also an extra charge for specialty restaurants and chef table. Oh, I just noticed you already said you don't eat in specialty restaurants so you probably wouldn't do the chefs table either. Sorry 'bout that. mycruz Posted February 26, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Coffee Card, a must for me! Spa, yoga classes and the delicious gelato in the International Cafe! Also some of the Scholarship at Sea classes have a charge, and don't forget purchasing your Future Cruise Credits! ;)
robgvic Posted February 26, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2011 One thing to consider is that with the ultimate ship tour is that ehy give you very nice Princess robes. They are very comfortable but weigh a lot and are very bulky. Two of them would probably need their own suitcase so could cost yu for a extra bag on the flight home. I would recommend signing up for the Chefs Table ($75) immediately when you board. You will enjoy it I am sure. Otherwise I think you have covered most costs other than what you may spend on tours and in the port. Which ship?

Mist_ynight Posted February 26, 2011 Author #7 Share Posted February 26, 2011 We are on the Crown Princess. My DH will not be doing the ultimate ships tour so there will be only one robe to take home. I would love to do the chefs table but my DH is a very picky eater, he has the palate of a 5 yeard old LOL. No casino for us either, lol we are a boring couple, we don't drink, party or gamble! Mycruz I totally forgot about FCC. Gotta add that to the list! None of the other things you mentioned interest me so I'm all good there. I have cash for Souvenirs which I will be buying in port so no hidden surprises there. I think I've got it all covered now. Thanks everyone :)
robgvic Posted February 26, 2011 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2011 It is a spectacular dinner which includes a tou of the galley with the head chef and a spectacular dinner with excellent wines. At teh end you get pictures and women get a long stem roe and men a cookbook. Very worthwhile http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1362842&highlight=chefs+table+pictures

Mist_ynight Posted February 26, 2011 Author #12 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Don't forget to include tips for your driver on the excursions too. How much do you usually tip the driver? And for that matter how much should I tip the porter. I gave the hotel shuttle driver $5 today but I didn't know if that was enough or too much. Not too sure about Bingo, I like it but not sure if DH does. I have extra in the budget anyway in case there is something else I want to do that costs money. Amtrack Springfield Posted February 26, 2011 #15 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Forget the pictures. $20 per picture! Take your own. You could buy a good digital camera at Best Buy for what they charge.

I have extra in the budget anyway in case there is something else I want to do that costs money. It would depend I suppose on what you think is fair. We have tipped between $5 and $20 depending on the service they gave us. We had a great driver in Puerto Rico by the name of Rodney for a tour around town in a bus. My mom and I sat up front with him and that was the best time ever! He was so personable and fun. He scored a great tip from us that trip! But I noticed that others on the tour bus didn't tip him at all, too bad! As for the porters, we give them $2 to $3 per baggage handled for us. Everyone is different though. Have fun on your cruises coming up!
Loonbeam Posted February 26, 2011 #17 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Depending on the itinerary and weather, maybe bottled water if you don't bring your own container (you usually get a travel cup with the drink cards too) Maybe allow for a 1 day pass to the Sanctuary if available? You could buy a good digital camera at Best Buy for what they charge. I bought a good digital camera for the cruise but I will still be buying pictures. I know it's expensive but it's our belated honeymoon so we are really looking forward to getting some nice pics done. Our photographer at our wedding wasn't very good and we have no pictures of just the two of us. It will be nice to have a couple professional ones to frame and put on the wall. Loonbeam I'm thinking about trying the sanctuary atleast one, I never really factored that in though cause it's not much money. I was more worried about forgetting a big thing. The first go round of trying the budget I forgot about tips LOL.

Loonbeam Posted February 26, 2011 #20 Share Posted February 26, 2011 I'm with you on the pictures, I took around 2000 pictures in Alaska and still bought the ones from Formal night on the cruise because they did such a nice job... I buy them also if I really like them. I have been putting my own photo albums together for YEARS now but I will still buy them if I really like them. What cracks me up is when people are so irritated at spending $24.95 for a picture that they REALLY REALLY want and like because it is too expensive--and they just spent $3k - $10 on a CRUISE!!!! Seriously? Buy the picture if you like it!!! It is a wonderful memory. If you don't like it, then it doesn't matter. Drop $25 less in the slots if it will make you feel better! kayzmarie Posted February 26, 2011 #25 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Don't forget too that at any time they could impose the fuel surcharge - up to $9.00 per day per person.
