There seem to be a lot of VRBO's and short stay rentals available but to navigate the various sites you have to select an area.

 

Our tourist plans are to see as many of the major London sites as possible and go on at least one day trip to Oxford or Cotswold, or Stonehenge etc.

 

Given the day trips you want to take, I would suggest the Paddington area, as Paddington is where you get the train to Oxford and points west.
