ahutchins9 Posted February 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2011 I paid for our cruise about 2 weeks ago. Since then gas has obviously gone up but I think it was already over the $70.00 per barrel when I paid for it. Will I still be charged the fuel surcharge and if so when will I find out? firefly333 Posted February 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2011 It was over $70 last summer...who knows when or if Carnival will add the fuel surcharge. You will see 10 threads on it, not just a couple on the front page when its added.
GalFitness19 Posted February 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2011 I believe when I booked a couple of weeks ago I was told by the Carnival rep that if crude goes over $100/barrel, then the surcharge will be added. And as we know, we have passed that point. UGH. I sail in two weeks. Can anyone confirm?
CJinFLA00 Posted February 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2011 When one cruise line breaks the ice and starts charging the fuel surcharge, they will all follow. I'm just hoping they hold off a little longer in hopes that Oil will go down again.
PA Dutchman Posted February 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Just maybe you are already paying it.
Graystarracing Posted February 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Gas prices should head back down soon the ppb has dropped below 100 for 3 days in a row!
Frank12 Posted February 28, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 28, 2011 I hope so. I just heard a blurb on local radio that said we can expect to pay over $4.00 a gallon by summer!

If/when Carnival adds the fuel surcharge, the boards will light up like Las Vegas.... Yes, all will pay the charge - even if you've paid in full. The ticket contract outlines the process. You will be charged right up to boarding the ship if they do it. I'm surprised they haven't....except that cruise prices have gone up so much the last year or so.... The rep knows no more than posters here, if they actually did know, then they would not be allowed to tell you inside info.
