thefudgecompany Posted March 4, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2011 So as many know the Star is doing 2 days back to back in Cabo. So the burning question is.... Could we choose to spend the night in port instead of getting back on the ship? Has anyone whose been on the Star recently done this? Any problems with getting back on the ship the next day? Just wondering. Thanks for any thoughts Sherry and Chris
garycarla Posted March 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 5, 2011 Not sure about your wording "back to back", but assume you mean the ship is stopping at Cabo, and not leaving that night, staying through. Since their is no "curfew", not sure why this would be a problem. After all, some people may party all night long ashore.
thefudgecompany Posted March 5, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted March 5, 2011 actually we have a day in cabo with last tender back to boat at 7pm, then we are all assuming they will go out and tootle at sea (i.e open the casino) then return next am for 7. Any thoughts???
newmexicoNita Posted March 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 5, 2011 This is a question you need to ask NCL. My guess is, no, but I could be totally wrong. Nita
Rare shof515 Posted March 5, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 5, 2011 Because cabo is a tender part, you will have to be back on board by the time that is posted. You can't spend the night in port. The reason why they do this is for safety and to open up the casino and shops. At least thats what i gather on information based on this topic . What if the seas/weather gets badand the ship has to leave port early or skip the next day? then your stuck in cabo with no way to reach the ship!! garycarla Posted March 5, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2011 So, if the ship heads back out to sea, then... What if you "miss the ship"? Usually you have to catch back up with the ship in the next port of call, which in this case is Cabo, Mexico. Interesting scenario.
CaliforniaCruiser47 Posted March 24, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2011 When I booked over the phone with NCL, they told me (without my even asking or being interested in doing so) that you CAN spend the night in Cabo. I'd suggest double checking for yourself before actually doing it, but I was told YES.
plumr12 Posted March 24, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2011 In Bermuda we spent the night in Hamilton while the ship moved to Kings wharf...I don't think they noticed.

LucyR. Posted March 24, 2011 #10 Share Posted March 24, 2011 I would not spend the night in Cabo because if a storm or hurricane shows up the ships will leave the area and not return. I have been to Cabo many times on ships. Sometimes when a storm shows up the ships will decide to pass up Cabo. I had that experience. In Alcapulco, a few years ago we were supposed to spend the night in port but the tide got too low so they ship left the port. I was on the NCL Star. Read the fine print and you will notice they don't care if you are left behind in Cabo or any port even if it is their fault. My advise is to take your passport and your valuables with you since the next port will be in U.S.A. if you decide to spend the night in Cabo. "Nervous Nelly".
