DEERINH2O Posted May 9, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2004 Hello, I just booked a cruise today for 11/21 on the Star. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how early I should start looking on Priceline for a hotel. Also I have used Priceline before (once) and had a great hotel. I am taking four kids with me, so this time we need two rooms. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks to all. lmmn Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 You could bid any time. Typically I like to wait until about 3 months prior to stay. It's not a bad idea to book a cancellable back up. I just bid 3* DT Ft. Lauderdale and Priceline accepted $55 bid...Embassy Suites 8/13. Many people have also bid 4* beach and got Hyatt Pier 66 for $80...very nice hotel. Good luck! LindaKE Posted May 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I got the Renaissance in February for $82. I bid $65 on a 4* downtown, and they countered with $82. LindaKE Sun Princess(Alaska) Carnival Inspiration
7nucruzers Posted May 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I went through the "comfortinn.com" website and was able to get the comfort suites airport cruisport for $65.00/room. My husband and I are government employees and this is a government rate; however, you can try AAA rate, etc. Never stayed here but others have said it is okay. this is the one on federal hwy not sterling. they offer free shuttle to airport and cruiseport and free breakfast. We are sailing jewel on 11/14. We have three rooms reserved for a group of 9. Can't wait - hope this helps
Nanatravel Posted May 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2004 Since that is a Holiday week (Thanksgiving), I would not hesitate to start bidding now. The Comfort Suites or Amerisuites (valutrips.com) may work out great for two rooms including all transfers and breakfast. That will save you a lot of extra $$. If you prefer bidding on priceline, 2* Downtown is the area for both hotels. You can walk to Outback, Eckerds or Publics for refreshments. The Intercoastal Waterway and 17th St. Bridge is within walking distance of the Amerisuites. The pool area is small but the price may be right. chicaletta Posted June 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 13, 2004 I just booked my hotel in Ft Laud. for 11/12/04 Pd $90. for Renaissance, but I've heard of others getting it in the $80's. Since I'm pretty new at the priceline bidding, I was happy. Also I hear it's a nice place to stay. Since yours is a holiday week, I would start soon. Happy Cruising!!!
