If you have used iPhone on ship

Recommended Posts

We have two iphones. I turn mine off all week. DW has hers in Airplane Mode for the ipod and camera as you asked about. No charges.

Also, we purchase a International plan for 4.99 for the month we are cruising and we purchase 50 international text messages for $10 for that month. We do not make calls or get on the internet while on the ship as that is part of the freedom of cruising for us.

We take one phone into port in Mexico and turn the phone on to call home and check texts from our kids. Each time you turn the phone on you have to turn off Data Roaming and Fetch Data and Push Notifications to avoid any downloading.

Can you use "airplane" mode and avoid charges? DD wants to use iPod and camera functions. Thanks for any insight you might be able to provide!

Airplane mode turns off all transceivers in the phone. No data will be transmitted or received by the phone in this state (no bluetooth either).
