When to book NOLA hotel?

We are booked on the Voyager of the Seas, leaving NOLA on February 11, 2012. We want to stay in or near the French Quarter from February 8 to 11, 2012. Mardi Gras is February 21 next year. Will I get the best rates now or should I wait to book?

We're looking at the Roosevelt Hotel, which is a block off Canal Street. Is this a good location for walking to parades? Thanks everyone.

Iv had better luck booking last minute with prices. When I booked 3 months out, usually the prices were higher the further out I booked.

If you are flying in, any hotel will be fine to me, though Im partial to Drury (its one of the best ones).

Check the Astor Crown Plaza, right on the corner of Bourbon and Canal, facing Canal. Just a couple of blocks from the dock, go our the side door and you're on Bourbon Street, the streetcar runs right in front of it...........it's a great place.
