MamaParrotHead Posted March 7, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2005 what's the plan for you guys for clothing to wear after dinner. do you keep your dinner wear on to attend shows, bars, casino? how about on formal nights? I just went through all my "possible" clothing choices this weekend, narrowed everything down and now I'm on a mission to finalize my choices. thanks! WeirdEyes Posted March 7, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I always wear what I wore to dinner. Saves on packing also! :)

Babie Posted March 7, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I guess I'm in the minority. I almost always change after dinner. Usually into shorts. Unless I'm going to a show, then I'll wear khaki's and a button up shirt. If I'm only going to roam the ship or sit on a deck, I put on shorts and a tshirt. I've yet to actually do a formal night, but this time around I bought my partner and I tuxedos, so we'll probably stay in our formal stuff until bedtime. Or see a show then change for late night stuff. I usually put on "fun clothes" for latenight dancing. Then after that, if I'm still roaming the ship, I'll sometimes change into lounge pants (usually a pair of red plaid lol) and a sleep tshirt. At home I never change during the day, I found on a cruise that I change twice or even more depending on the days activities. It's almost an OCD thing :o LES! TupeloHoney Posted March 7, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I almost always change after dinner. But I never go to a show or go dancing, or anything like that. If anything I'll go to the casino or go sit somewhere outside and enjoy the warm air and a drink. So I usually put casual clothes on - a pair of twill pants and a nice t-shirt, or something like that. But I usually bring two pairs of pants for this and just wear them all week. I only wear them for a couple of hours - so it works well. This way I can also wear my pants for the dining room for casual night more than once since I also only wore them for a couple of hours for dinner. LandLockedInAZ Posted March 7, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 7, 2005 For the most part, we stay in our formal wear. The cruise lines request this. If I'm just going to sit on deck or go to the movie theater, I'd feel more comfortable about changing into something more casual, but if I'm going to the show or another activity inside/evening entertainment, I stay in my formal wear. It feels odd to be walking around in a formal gown and seeing others in shorts and I think I'd feel the same were the situation reversed.
TxGal Posted March 7, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2005 We never change. The attire is for the evening, not just dinner, especially on formal night.
Rare Lois R Posted March 7, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I always stay dressed in whatever I am wearing to dinner:) It is nice being "dressed for the evening". And after putting on pretty clothes, why would I want to change out of them?;)
trish1c Posted March 7, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 7, 2005 I never change either but the members on this board notwithstanding, most of your fellow passangers will change.
hajekfam Posted March 7, 2005 #12 Share Posted March 7, 2005 On Celebrity, you are requested to adhere to the evenings dress throughout the evening in all public areas except for the casual deck (the pool deck). Most people do stay in evening dress throughout the evening. On a few Celebrity cruises, I have seen people who changed turned away from the theater . Jane110 Posted March 8, 2005 #13 Share Posted March 8, 2005 We would never change our clothes after dinner. Unless you're going to do something that you can't do in the outfit you wore to dinner (like taking a late night swim), why would anyone change clothes? Happy ks Posted March 8, 2005 #14 Share Posted March 8, 2005 We don't often go to the shows, disco or casino after dinner. We do change our clothes after having another drink or two at the piano bar, then go for a walk up on deck. We both love the fresh air and stars if you can see them and the best time to go for a walk, almost no one up there at night.
familycruzer Posted March 8, 2005 #15 Share Posted March 8, 2005 If I am going to the evening show or lounges after dinner I stay in what I wore to dinner. The attire is to be for the whole evening. If I plan on sitting out on deck, grabbing a bite at the buffet, or sitting on my balcony I will change into shorts, or active wear to be comfortable. MamaParrotHead Posted March 8, 2005 Author #16 Share Posted March 8, 2005 some of my dinner outfits are "mix & match" and I'm not looking forward to their getting smokey smelling (from sitting in the club, bars or casino at night) or things spilled on them, and don't particularly want to spend any time on my cruise in the laundry room (if they do). no big deal. thanks. Allis154 Posted March 8, 2005 #17 Share Posted March 8, 2005 After going through all the trouble of getting dressed up, I stay that way until bed-time.

happysinglemom Posted March 8, 2005 #19 Share Posted March 8, 2005 I never change after dinner. I love wearing the outfit, and want to stay in it for the evening!
LuvMyVette Posted March 12, 2005 #20 Share Posted March 12, 2005 Hi: DH/I stay in our evening wear for the evening. It's very rare that we will change unless it's very late at night and we feel like taking a walk on the deck in more casual/comfortable clothes. We always pack clothes that we will be comfortable in during the evening hours.
Bethwte Posted March 12, 2005 #21 Share Posted March 12, 2005 I see you're going onCarnival, and so I'll give you my Carnival response to this question. (As you can imagine, it varies from Celebrity to RCCL to Carnival) I was on a feb 21 sailing, and I would say a good 70% of the people changed after dinner each night, a bit less on formal nights. Some went back to daytime casual (shorts, tanks etc) and then there were people like me. I sometimes stay in my dinner clothes, but often I felt overdressed, especially in the night club. So I adapted and "half-changed". One night I wore avery nice knee length pink silk skirt to dinner with a black halter, wore it to the show, and then after went and changed my top. I still looked nice, but felt more comfortable, and was able to balance being dressy and casual. So, if you have a fancy piece you love, why change out of it... just dress it down. Then again, just do what you feel comfortable with. It's your cruise, so enjoy it. Just dont go changing into lingerie or anything ;)
ladycaveat Posted March 12, 2005 #22 Share Posted March 12, 2005 On formal nights the only time I change into something more comfy is into my pj's for bed.
WCAB Posted March 12, 2005 #23 Share Posted March 12, 2005 I will leave my formal atire on through dinner and the show but if I plan to spend a few hours in the casino, I will change. Since this setting is casual, I feel more comfortable sitting on a stool, in something other then a beaded garment. Carol
Ladydee Posted March 12, 2005 #24 Share Posted March 12, 2005 The only time I changed after dinner was when we just wanted to find a few quiet chairs on deck and just relax. If I do anything inside - casino, lounge, show or evn shopping, I stay dressed.
sandytoesrose Posted March 12, 2005 #25 Share Posted March 12, 2005 For me formal night is formal night. We stay dressed in our evening clothes. We will either attend the show or go dancing. It's a party atmosphere and time to dress up. We also make sure we get our picture taken!
