kiwi sailor Posted March 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Just had an email from our daughter aboard the Pacific Jewel. They have had horrific seas with passengers and crew being restricted to their cabins. Even crew members were sea sick. At one point the waves came within metres of the wings on the bridge. The ship has received some interior damage, but not sure as the email was short. Anyone else heard anything?

Sometimes the ships turns the bridgecams off in BIG seas, don't want to scare off prospective pax !

rkmw Posted March 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2011 someone posted from facebook Just got a call from my brother and his Mrs, who are on the Fiji cruise right now. Last night everyone on board was confined to their cabins for over 2 hours as the swell was insane. He said that a few people were injured and heaps of stuff... was broken, damaged etc including glasses and plates. He said that staff went to every cabin... and brought drinks and bread rolls to keep people going because it was just before dinner time and they didn't know how long they would all be in there. I guess that is what can happen when you are out at sea, just like turbulence in the air

Itachi Posted March 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2011 I have a relative onboard now, we got an email on Friday night and they were experiencing some rough weather 12m swells and extremely high winds. While they were in Fiji it was fine, guessing it was the trip between pacific Islands to Fiji. They said other than the weather they are having a great time and loving it.
