flamomo Posted March 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Just thinking about places like French Polynesia and Samoa, and wondering if the tsunami had any effect on them.
EJNutz Posted March 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Because they are mainly isolated it will take some time before we know.
Deb in Cali Posted March 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 11, 2011 I would also like to hear about Tahit and New Zealand. We have relatives in both places.
MightyQuinn Posted March 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 11, 2011 This thread from the Paul Gauguin forum has timely updates on tsunami alerts and damage in French Polynesia. Many thanks to poster Lunamomma (and credit to Radio New Zealand) for her excellent reporting! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1376488

ETepas Posted March 15, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Was on Bora Bora during the Japan earthquake and was awaken by the hotel front desk at 4:30 in the morning telling us they were evacuating us for higher ground due to a tsunami alert. We stayed evacuated for about 5-6 hours and when the all clear was given, was able to go back to the hotel. Reports were a few waves but nothing that did any damage. There were 2 cruise ships anchored off Bora Bora at the time. It was a real experience.
