OK. Lanyard. I know it may be convenient

I have made a few beaded ones for those who cruise with me and they are done in many colors so they match our outfits and look more like jewelry. We get alot of comments on where to buy them. I could probably sell them on the ship....

My "lanyard" is really a badge-holder from a business trade show I attended years ago (but I've seen the exact type of thing for sale in some ships' shops). In addition to a clear pocket for my card, it also has a zippered pouch that's perfect for toting other necessities... like my reading glasses (just in case I want to see!) and asthma inhaler. Since it's black, in the evening I wear it over my shoulder like a purse instead of around my neck.

I have one of those too, but use it at work only.

For our cruises, I have used a "D clip" similar to one used by climbers. It clips onto belt loops, or beach bags, and it's easy to find. I get the Purser's desk or Casino to punch a hole in my Sail and Sign card, then attach the card to the ring part.

Now this one I could probably do... :D

For the gals that need someplace to tuck it when wearing a dress, I tuck mine in my bra. hehe

Keepin it classy San Diego. :P

I do that too! If needed I can also fit my small digital camera in there and a lipgloss... you would be suprised how much can fit in there! LOL ;)

FWIW, I wear a lanyard, and I stand four-square with the previous posters who like Crocs and hate chocolate melting cake.

The post about keeping stuff in one's bra squicked me out, though. The thought of a woman digging into her sweaty cleavage to retrieve a card, and then handing it to somebody and expecting that somebody to actually touch it... just... ew.

I couldn't care less if someone thinks my lanyard looks stupid.

Amen to that, brother! I am not on a cruise to impress anyone other than my dear wife, who happens to wear one herself! Besides, it's nice to "show off" the Platinum cards!

:cool:Bill

I don't like then around my neck, but I do attach it to my belt loop

and stick my S&S card in my pocket... that way it keeps it safe and sound and it's handy when I want it. and I also don't forget the card in the slot machines.:)

Sometimes I think you and I are the only people who wear it like this. Just makes so much sense, easy, convenient, never gets lost, and doesn't show.

I am a lanyard guy.I lose everything so if its not attached around my neck it would be gone.My mom made me wear them mitts with a string attached to them so I would not loose them as a kid.Maybe thats where I get it from???

Hahah...I laughed so hard when I read this because I had these in good ole Vermont growing up in the 80's. Then they came up with the elastic bands with the clips on each end that clipped to the mitten then to the coat...haha....:D

I too have to have a lanyard for work...but my sister found me a very stylish Vera Bradley one for work....

I like another posters idea of the retractable one best!!!

but don't you think it just looks so stupid hanging around your neck?

OK. Just had to let it out.

I wear mine. I do not need to worry if I have it. It will not fall off and I will not leave it behind. And from the bottom of my heart, I could not care less if YOU think it is stupid.

I have worn the same Happy Bunny lanyard on all my cruises. It is tradition now and I love it. I am old and would lose it if it were not on my neck. I am currently looking for my debit card. Maybe I should start wearing it!!

if the op is a man i bet he doesnt care what others think of the tie he wears. or if a lady the kind of necklace she has on. i wonder what they would do if someone said either one was stupid looking . who cares what others think. i wear one and am glad i have it. maybe i will have my sons picture put on a small political type pin and put it on my lanyard. i will be proud as hell too wear it with a smile on my face. ;)

Not a snob really, but would'nt wear a lanyard or a fanny pack. Why would I when I have DH? LOL:) Also, we have lounge chair towel keepers with a "secret pocket" to hold cards. Sol-mate (google it). As far as the "bra" storage goes, here in Key West it's called a "Cuban Wallet".:rolleyes::D

No i don't. I really don't care what others think. It is real easy as I don't have podkets.

I totally agree! On our first 3 or 4 cruises my dh carried my S&S card in his wallet. What a pitb that was esp if I forgot to get it before I headed back to the cabin. When I went on our first CC group cruise they gave us CC laynards. While I'm normally not a laynard person I loved having my S&S card. Now I find it so convenient to use the casino laynards and not have to worry about leaving my card in the machine.

Anyhow I don't care what anyone else does as there are much more important things to worry about on a cruise .......like where that darn server is in the casino! :D

My husband and I were just having the lanyard discussion today. We are cruising with our 5 kids and I think the younger ones will have to have a lanyard or risk losing their card. Do you think Carnival provides lanyards for kids?

Does anyone have an idea what we can use at Universal for our hotel room key which is also the kids express pass for rides? Not sure if they punch the room keys for a lanyard- plus I worry about the lanyard hooking on something. Any thoughts?
