glutenhab Posted March 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2011 We will be flying to Sydney from Canada on Nov 19/11, returning from Hong Kong on Jan 25/12. Our only stops in China will be Sanya & Hong Kong. I don't think Hong Kong requires a Visa (is that correct?) so will we be OK with a single entry Chinese Visa? Since our return from Hong Kong is 10 weeks after we leave, and a single entry is good for only 3 months, how far in advance can we purchase to cover the dates required & what is the best/cheapest place to get a Chinese Visa here in Canada? Rare John Bull Posted March 19, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 19, 2011 You are correct about HK, no visa required for Canadians. Whilst there's a general visa requirement for mainland China, I have a feeling that a day-trip to Sanya by cruise-ship may not require a visa either. Or mebbe something fixed up by the ship? You need advice from someone who's visited just Sanya, not Shanghai, Beijing etc John Bull

glutenhab Posted March 19, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted March 19, 2011 Is there some reason you didn't believe my previous post on this topic. i have just returned from China and Hong Kong. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=28340089&postcount=15 No no, not at all. I am just trying to figure out how we get around the 3 month expiry & where exactly to order the visas from. There is almost 10 weeks between when we leave & when we visit Sanya & a single entry has a 3 month expiry I think. I don't want to order them last minute & from the wrong place. Rare John Bull Posted March 19, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 19, 2011 Beware the age of the following cc thread, but it makes interesting reading if your only Chinese visit is to Sanya http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=728487 And this local gov website offers citizens of Canadian, US, UK & various other countries visa-free entry or they can obtain their visa on arrival. http://english.sanya.gov.cn/html/200812/t20081205_123.shtml I'd say its well worth digging deeper JB
