Considering booking a Celebrity Summit cruise in August. I believe they dock in King's Wharf. They dock there for 3 days. That's the only port in the 7 day cruise. I am more used to the 4 to 5 islands in 7 day type of schedule. Wonder if there is enough things to do for 3 days in Bermuda. We are in our 50's and traveling with kids between 17 and 21. I am a non swimmer but the rest of them do swim. Could you please share your experiences with us about what you did in Bermuda. We usually do not book anything tours with the cruise ship. Are there any tour operators you would recommend, or avoid... Are there lots of local operators at the port you could book with. What is there to do other than water sports? I just worry there is not enough things to see and do for 3 days. You can only lie on the beach for so long. Any input is welcome! We like the really calm, shallow water and soft and powdery sand. Are the beaches like that?

If you just poke around here on the message boards or check www.bermudatourism.com (or just google "Bermuda travel guide") you will see that there is probably more than you can do in 3 days! There is an abundance of watersports from snorkeling to helmet diving and things to do on the many beaches; caves to explore, aquarium, historic St Georges.... on and on.. rent bikes and do some of the Railway Trail... there are threads started on nearly all of these topics.. There are beaches, shopping, resturants near Dockyard and ferries to St George and Hamilton all day ...and evening....

Plus historic forts to explore, beautiful gardens to enjoy and lots of sightseeing in the towns. Be sure to look into 3 day bus and ferry passes for everyone. It may seem like a lot to pay for transportation but they will take all of you everywhere unlimited. Go to the "pink" beaches (like Horseshoe Bay Beach) because they are the natural beaches. If it isn't pink, it is manmade with fill and not natural. You can find out about all of this by googling sightseeing in Bermuda.

  • 3 years later...

Hello! Hope you are having a great day! I saw where you are very informative and would like to know if you could help me plan a perfect 3 days in Bermuda when our cruise arrives with our 3 boys-Ages(11,13 and 16).

These are our thoughts so far, but we can change around. Also, please let us know what is closer to each other and if we should move around anything. I would like to see the unfinished church too, but I know the boys will not. What is the fastest way to see it and keep the boys entertained>

Wednesday

-Welcome to Bermuda!

-Helmet Dive?

-Back to ship for Lunch and shower

-Afternoon beach-Horseshoe Bay and Warick Long Bay Jobson's Cove (All on South Shore)

-Back to Ship for dinner

-Black Bay Beach in Evening for Sea Glass and Beautiful Sunset

Thursday

-Go to Beaches-(Church Bay for Snorkeling-BEST, but you have to bring own snorkeling gear) Or do morning snorkeling excursion?)(Tobacco Bay has snorkel rental)

-Back to Ship for Lunch and Shower

-Cruise around island-(Gibbs Lighthouse and Caves)

-Back to Ship for dinner

-Walk around Royal Naval Yard and evening Snorkel Yard fun

Friday

-Go to Beaches-(Tobacco Bay)(Long Bay Beach has beautiful pink sand)

-Not sure?

-Back to ship for lunch

-Afternoon shopping in Dockyard maybe or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated on making this vacation a trip to remember!

Thank you so much and have a blessed day!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO gam888:There is plenty of things for you and your family to do in three days.First, you have the Royal Naval Dockyard. There is a shopping mall there with stores and restaurants. Also in the Royal Naval Dockyard you have demonstrations on how things used to be done in Bermuda and some still do. You also have beaches in the Royal Naval Dockyard area and a cemetery. Go to St. George and you can watch the reenactment. There is a town crier there who can give you plenty of information. There are some museums, more stores, the perfumery, see the Deliverance, historical churches, Sommers Wharf. If you go to Hamilton, you have lots of shopping and restaurants, more museums, more beaches, the botanical gardens, government buildings, parks, and beaches. If you want to go to beaches take the #7 bus from the Royal Naval Dockyard to Hamilton. You will pass many beaches. Horseshoe Bay Beach is the one that is usually voted #1 in the world. You also have the Bermudian National Zoo, Aquarium, and Museum of Natural History. You could easily spend several hours there.

Most important, while you are there have fun and enjoy yourselves. By the way, Canada is our favorite destination and we have been there more times than any other single destination.

Thank you all for that information, we are just on a budget. The helmet dive on the first day will be docked right at the ship. When we get back it will be easy to go eat lunch on the ship then venture off to enjoy beautiful Bermuda.

How long are the ferry/bus rides? I didn't think it would be that far seeing the island of Bermuda is small?

Please, please help me make the most of our time.

I also just saw a beautiful place called Admiratly House Park, it looks amazing that we would want to add.

Please help us plan our 3 days perfectly with all of our wants:

Helmet Diving

Snorkel Park and Kings Wharf

Gibbs Lighthouse

Jobsons Cove

Horseshoe Beach

Warick Long Bay

The Caves

Tobacco Bay

Admiralty House Park

We don't have to stay at the beaches long, unless it is breathtaking and good snorkeling. Please let us know which ones have the best pink sand and snorkeling. Even if we don't have them listed above.

We just need help desparately. I am so confused.

Bus rides can be short, like those into Somerset, or they can take an hour or more. Ferries are another great option which can get you to a general area quickly. For example, to get to Admiralty House Park, the quickest way I've found for my upcoming trip is the 20 minute ferry ride to Hamilton and then get on the 4 bus to the park, grand total of a half hour or so. Taking buses exclusively would take much longer. While it is a small island, the buses do still have a lot of stops to make and a lot of ground to cover.

Also, Gibbs Hill Lighthouse is great and can be done before or after spending some time at Horseshoe Bay. It's probably better to take the bus between them, but the walk is about 20 minutes, as I found out last year. Not terrible, but not a safe place to walk with kids at every point as sidewalks are limited. There were six of us walking last year after my boyfriend met some people at Gibbs Hill, but all of us were adults.
