Did I get tired of my DW during our cruise?

Just got back last Saturday from our 7 days on the Star. As much as I love my DW (married 25 years), 7 days together in a standard sized cabin kinda got tough times. Funny, this was never an issue with me in past years.

Btw, it's good to be at home and to have some space. ;) Also, good thing she doesn't read these boards!

If she does happen to read this, we may see your remains on the news !!:D:D

Great commercial for the 2 bedroom family suite for couples married more than 10 years. :)

You must be one of those couples glued at the hip. Chris and I do our own things and then decide what we'd like to share together...like martini tasting!:D

We ARE one of those couples glued to the hip! I like your way better! Not sure if DW will go for it though!

Whats her email address????

I guess that you need a few more years under your belt to be able to handle living in that close of quarters. LOL For our 25th we did our first Alaska cruise for 10 days. We were disappointed that the cruise wasn't longer. Jokingly I say that I don't belive in divorce, but homocide.

But on a more serious side, I have been through 2 life threatening situations in the past 11 years with my DH. When you are forced to walk this path you quickly realize how much you love them.

I think the close quarters on the Ship brings out the best and worst of us, you really do not have your "own away" space, but since it is vacation time on a cruise we do spend some "quality time". 25 yrs Anniversary was in 2010!

About day 4 a few hours apart is highly recommended for us, then we so enjoy talking about what we did, who we saw, what we overheard, hey,we live the simple life!

will be 34 years for us and we have done 2 week cruises in an inside and we SURVIVED...we dont spend every minute joined at the hip...hubby is always off doing his thing and then we meet up for a bit before suppertime..evenings are ours together but we are "entertained" and dont have to "entertain" each other-lol....we just booked 21 day cruise next year inside--maybe we might get to much of each other then.......lol....

DW and I have over 51 years together and have been on cruises over 30 days. We enjoy each others company and do lots of things together. If we choose to so different things, we do it with no friction or arguments. I learned a long time ago to say "Yes-Dear" and "You are right, Dear". It works wonders !!!!

Sometimes, the DW and I barely see each other during the day after breakfast although we always eat dinner together and do the evening entertainment stuff together. The nice thing about being on a ship is that even if we are doing something separate, we do run into each other during the day. There are times when we have done separate excursions when there is something that one of us really wants to do that the other would hate.

Also, there have even been a few time when we did separate vacations. For example, I did a Grand Canyon hiking trip, a San Juan kayaking trip, and a winter Yellowstone trip that the DW did not want any part of. She has also done some solo trips.

That said, we can do extended trips together w/o problems. We did 3 months in Australia a year ago and this summer we will be doing almost 3 months in Alaska.

This works for us as we have been marrried for almost 50 years; apparently continuous togetherness does not work for you. Have you talked the DW about your problem?

DH and I did a 7 day Alaska in 2006 in an inside cabin. I was ready to snap after 4 days! (don't get me wrong...love him to bits!:p) lol We just got off a 7 day MR and met up with people on our roll call! We connected with another couple and spent quite a bit of time with them, and that made a world of difference! :D We have made a great friendship, and they are coming to visit us this summer hopefully! And they will be in on future cruise planning!!! Can't wait!!

When you say "love him to bits" it can be taken a couple of different ways. :D

My wife and I survived a home remodel, so I trust we can survive anything :)

Been there done that, but I will admit to having a crow bar ready to swing at him a few tines. :p

We take a cruise so we CAN be together and we will have 41 yrs in June!! We also book a suite so we have a little more space as we do tend to spend time in the cabin. We found the little things that bug us about each other doesn't matter, but doing the little things FOR EACH other does.;)

Tony and I have been together for 20 years. I often find when we are on a trip together that I need some time for myself and so does he. Sometimes we just take off and go for a walk on the ship, or go to an activity alone. Or just go and sit on our balcony to read a book.

Making friends on the ship helps a lot as time spent with others is always fun and takes the pressure off entertaining each other. I think we all have our ways of dealing with this occasional issue.

We thankfully are not joined at the hip after 42 years of marriage! My DH spends the sea days wondering about the ship, talking to the crew, sitting on our balcony having a glass of wine and stopping by the pool area where I am lounging away in the sunshine, every couple of hours to see if I need anything. We enjoy a wonderful breakfast and dinner together, see the shows, I enjoy the casino - he doesn't, so he is usually at a bar that has entertainment. We do enjoy doing things together - martini tastings, 2for1 martini's 5-6pm :D, shows, Quest, white hot party, newlywed game, etc., but we also enjoy time away from each other. LOL, if I get sick of him I go off to the casino...I know he won't follow me there!

Ha, that made me laugh :) Our first night home after the cruise I was sitting a good distance on the couch away from my husband...when he said "why are you sitting so far away from me" I said "because I can". Ha. I love my husband very much but after 7 days of trying to get around him in a small cabin it was nice to have a little more than a walkway to try to move about.

That made me laugh! ;) I wasn't tired of DH after our cruise...tired of the kids, perhaps. (Mainly the moody/hormonal teenage girl. During the cruise I kept having flashes of that Royal Caribbean commercial where the videographer is trying to capture the rarely seen smile. LOL) Alright, so it wasn't really that bad, but I, too, did enjoy the first day back where DH went to work and the kids went to school. :)

Yeah well, I had a moody 16 year old across the hall that I am never taking on vacation again ;) And a 10 month old in our cabin. I need another vacation and a drink! haha
