Did I get tired of my DW during our cruise?

Funny stuff!! My husband and I went on our first cruise in 2009 to celebrate our 25th anniversary. I jokingly told him I would be cruising to Alaska for our anniversary and he could join me if he'd like...needless to say he did...and loved it! I told all our friends that we had never spent that much time "alone" together in all our married life so we might not make it to celebrate 26 yrs!! What worked for us was my "spa time". I would enjoy the thermal suite and he'd enjoy a nap in the cabin, then sometimes we'd meet at the hot tub after! We pretty much did everything else together. It was wonderful!! We are excited to be going on our second cruise May 29th on the Spirit with all our children!!

I took my first cruise with a girlfriend, and then met my wife. We've been cruising ever since, sometimes with the kids, and most recently just the two of us. We just love it, and wouldn't change anything. We do this together, meet new friends like Planner's Edge, and just keep planning our next venture.;) That's why we married 15 years ago, we're best friends.:D

I'm a stay-at-home mom to 4 kids ages 11 months - 7 years and let me tell you...I would LOVE a solo vacation! DH is often times the 5th child...I'm sure a lot of the women on here can relate...ha ha! Don't get me wrong...I'd love a couple's cruise too but I'm really needing some alone time right now.

We've only done one couple's cruise...a few years back on the Pearl and we were definitely at each other's throats at times. Separation is a very good idea sometimes! :)

I'm sitting here chuckling at some of these posts...you guys are funny!! My DH and I must be really odd, and I thought we were pretty normal. HMMMMMMM, I've never gotten sick of him on a cruise. We spend the entire week together and totally enjoy our quality time together, away from work, chores, etc. We will celebrate our 25th anniversary together on a the Star this Christmas. I've been on 3 cruises without him, one with our youngest daughter, one with my bff and one with my niece, and I missed him every time. I live for our cruises, and the wonderful days spent together, to totally reconnect and discover each other....things that get put on the back burner, at home, during our hectic every day lives.

I tend to agree with you on this one, especially the last part.

Just got back last Saturday from our 7 days on the Star. As much as I love my DW (married 25 years), 7 days together in a standard sized cabin kinda got tough times. Funny, this was never an issue with me in past years.

Btw, it's good to be at home and to have some space. ;) Also, good thing she doesn't read these boards!

Nice to post on a public forum. I hope you are not serious :)

As I get older, I also have found it hard to tolerate the "togetherness" of a small cabin. Especially when traveling with our kids, I find the maneuvering around the foot of the bed and sharing one tiny bathroom to be exasperating when everyone is trying to get ready at the same time. We graduated to mini-suites (at a minimum) several years ago and will be enjoying the ample space of BOTH Garden Villas this June. Sometimes you need some space, but don't want to deal with throngs of other passengers.

The differences between couples who are "joined at the hip" and those who separate to "do their own thing" (as described above) is interesting. My wife and I tend not to leave each other's sides on cruises. We always leave the cabin together as we head to the pool, the gym, the jogging track, dinner, the shows. Such couples who are "joined at the hip" should consider roomier quarters or at least a nice drink package!

I was in no way sick of my husband, just got tired of waiting on him to move out of the walk way at the foot of the bed so I could get to the bathroom :):D

By our third cruise, hubby and I had decided that 'quality' time together on a cruise ship was not for us since we don't enjoy the same type of things. So, we developed a cruise schedule that has worked well for us for the last dozen cruises, especially on sea days. On port days we usually do our sightseeing together, but since we prefer sea days most of the cruises we take have lots of sea days.

We sometimes eat breakfast together on sea days, but not always. We usually then spend the entire day apart, meeting at 5:30pm or so for drinks. He spends most of his time on shipboard activities, especially team trivia, or chatting with passengers. I love to read and go to any lectures and I often watch a movie in our cabin while snacking on something from cabin service. He always goes to the MDR for lunch, sharing a table with others, whereas I go to the buffet.

We always have dinner together but at a shared table with others, rarely just the two of us. Then we might go to the evening program together or I might go alone while he goes to the casino, or I might go to the casino too.

This schedule has worked beautifully for us. It might not work for others.

If she does happen to read this, we may see your remains on the news !!:D:D

OMG. I never have that problem. Of course a balcony helps!!!! Also, my hubby does not have to spend every second with me. While I am basking in the sun, he is walking around. That is a nice break and then it is always nice to see him again. In fact, that is what is nice about cruising...you do not have to spend every second with someone like you do on land trips!:D

Can't wait... we have not cruise in 15 months and we leave in 6 weeks. AWWWWWWWWWW;)

Check my previous post on our lack of cruise togetherness in this thread. That said, we have done a 3 month land trip in Australia and will be doing a 2 1/2 month land trip in Alaska this summer. That is a lot of togetherness but we do manage to make it work.
