Skagway Rail Road or Rental Car

Currently I have reserved the 8:15 a.m. White Pass Rail Road and 2:45 p.m. with Temsco for helicopter/dog sled. After reading these posts I am considering renting a car in the morning instead of taking the rail, I need to be back to Skagway by 2:15 to make the helicopter/dog sled excursion. Avis does not open until 8:00 a.m. We will be in Skagway from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. I will call Temsco and see if there is a later time for our helicopter/dog sled excursion, but I doubt it, they were pretty full when I made the original reservation more than a month ago. My question is - Will 8:00 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. be enough time with a rental car or should we stick with the train?

Yes probably enough time, but tight. I would first see if there is a later TEMSCO flight available. I don't know, but perhaps one of the independents is open earlier??
