PV Taxi question

I have read on these boards that there are a lot of taxis you can grab at the port in PV. Do any of you know if there are any van taxis? There will be 8 of us, some being my children and we would rather be in one vehicle. The other thing I am thinking about is trying to arrange for a van and driver on-line ahead of time. Do you think that will be necessary or should we be able to find a van taxi when we get off the ship?

Two taxi companies (unions) in the greater Vallarta area.

White/cream color taxis within the port area charge per person. They have a good number of larger vans/suburan type vehicles. They service the port/airport only and are not allowed to pick up passengers outside the port/airport.

Yellow city taxis charge per taxi ride with a maximum of four passengers. They pick up passengers everywhere except on the port/airport property. I have seen a few (very few) mini-vans and I think you would be hard pressed to fit eight people in one, even if that was allowed.

I would plan on dividing your party into two groups of four or hire a private tour guide in advance that can handle your party of eight. Then again, there is always the city bus system.

Enjoy!

The only vans we saw were the taxis inside the port. About 4 bucks a person to the downtown area. If keeping your family together is important, this may be your best bet. Otherwise it would be two taxis outside the port .
