Spending money?

I am due to go on my first cruise on 8th May (only 24 days away) :D

Hubby and I have absolutely no idea of how much spending money to take with us.

We are going round the Med and Europe and fly into Palma, Majorca.

We have got some US Dollar travellers cheques to pay for the drinks package when we get on board but still have no idea how many Euro's to take with us for when we are off the ship.

Any ideas how much you would approx take for 7 nights in Europe?

We are not planning to do excursions with RCI as there is not alot which has caught our eye.

Thanks,

Stacey x

Tell us more. Are you going to just go to the beach, take taxi tours, shop till you drop, bringing a credit card, use the casino (onboard &/or on shore), walk around town, have lunch in port, stay on board and have the pool almost to yourself.

I suggest you check out some travel books for your ports of call and see what you night want to do.

yes...definitely get some guidebooks on your ports, so you'll have an idea of what there is and what things will cost! A guidebook will give you that info! Of course, everything (except gambling) on the ship will go onto your seapass account, so you don't really need cash on the ship. Most folks link their shipboard account to a credit card.

We generally bring about $1500 for a weeks cruise...but we don't usually spend it all.

It's very hard to say how much any given person might spend, tho! Bring more than you think you'll need...any remaining $$ can go back to the bank!

I have looked into different tours to do in the ports we are going to but nothing really appeals to us. We like to go off and do our own thing, wander round the shops and local areas and maybe go to the beach to relax for abit.

We may go to the Casino for a couple of evenings too.

We spent just a little over 1000 in euros last year for our 7 day in the Med. We did not do any paid excursions....we did everything on our own. We didn't eat extravagantly or shop extravagantly. But all of that included train fares, subway fares, taxi fares, food, water, souvenirs, entrance to places/exhibits, tips (not on RCCL), toilets (as it costs to use public restrooms), and a couple of room service tips from when we did order room service on the ship.
