coins for laundry

Use your ATM card at the airport to get dollars...

The OP lives in the UK. It's quite possible they are embarking at a UK port.

If you are embarking outside the US, there are sometimes currency exchange machines' onboard; however, your best bet would be to secure some US currency at your local bank before leaving home. The currency machine rate of exchange is quite outrageous.

Once you have US currency, there are coin dispensers in the laundries. You could also get quarters at the purser's desk.

Enjoy your cruise...

One solution would be to "gift" oneself $100 USD in casino credit prior to your cruise.

The certificate for $100 would be in your cabin on embarkation.

You take that to the casino and you are given the $100. You can then take that to the pursers desk and ask for change as needed. You can use some for tips etc.

Just a thought.

When we travel to Europe the first thing we do when we get the the airport is go to the ATM machine and get that country currency. Just enough to get us by for a few days and get more as needed. You can do the same when you get to the US and as said above you can go to the desk in the airport and pay a fee to get the dollars that you want.

Thanks for all the replies we are sailing from Southampton on the Grand Princess to madeira and the canaries so will only need Euros , buying dollars before we leave seems like a plan :)
