Hi all. In six weeks, i will embark on my first cruise :D I'll be on Costa Romantica, stopping in Greece.

I speak survival Italian, but it's rusty (I lived there about 10 years ago). In Greek, I can only say please/thank you.

Since I have a very limited amount of time to learn anything -- should I dust off the limited Italian or learn some basic Greek phrases? Seems one would be more useful on-ship and the other off-ship. FWIW, we'll probably not be doing Costa excursions.

Thanks!

Seeing how you speak English, you'll have few problems both on the ship and ashore at Greek ports. Most crew members you'll have contact with speak English, and Greeks working anywhere in or near the tourist industry also speak English. However learning basic expressions in both languages will be beneficial and appreciated by your hosts.

I have found that Ican get by in a foreign language with only 6 sentences:

1. A beer please

2. Another beer please (can be used often)

3. Bill please:eek:

4. Hello

5. I love you:rolleyes:

6. Goodbye and of course I will write;)

Very immportant not to change the sequence of points 4, 5 & 6.:D
