weather crossing 07/07 TA

How cold and rough is it usually on this crossing from Fort Lauderdale to the Azores?

I have been on this route when the sailing was so smooth that I could hardly tell the ship was moving.

 

The captain said that a Princess ship two days ahead of us had hit a bunch of storms on the same path.

 

So, it can be smooth, rough or inbetween, Mother Nature at her unpredictable best.

I guess it was rather cool on the Atlantic and not very good for sunning

I have crossed twice at this time of year (on a smaller ship) and both times is has been so calm. I have seen more waves on the River Thames in London!!!! But I suppose it is just weather dependent each year.

That was my thoughts also. We are doing the TA on 5-7-11

That makes more sense. Maybe people who have done TAs in May will help you. I would guess that it'll be warm enough to enjoy the sun to the Azores and then cooler after that, but I have no personal experience. The average in May is 66 degrees there with lots of sun and 1.7" total rainfall for the month. Hope you get some good feedback from previous May cruisers. ;)

I crossed both times in May. Absolutely perfect. Fingers crossed for good weather this May

I see Lisbon is in the hight 20s

It's a good thing you are going in May. The sea is quite a bit calmer than it is in the fall. If you are doing the southern route across it should be okay. It can be chilly though so I would bring a jacket just in case.
