Budget Car Rental - Civitavecchia

Has anyone used Budget car rental in Civitavecchia? How do you get there from the port?

Budget has one of the most inconvenient locations for the port. Its office is located about 2 1/4 miles from the port entrance so you would want to get a taxi from the pier. The only problem is that most of the taxis do not want to take local fares...so you might need to wait until you get a willing driver. You also might find that if a taxi is willing to do the fare they will want at least 20 Euros. Most of the taxis are trying to find fares to the airport or into Rome where they can make 100+ Euros.

 

Personally, we would not rent from that office unless they were willing to pick us up at the port or port entrance (unlikely). As we have posted many times, Hertz has the most convenient location to the port (about 2 blocks from the entrance). Avis and Europcar are also within walking distance...although that can be about 1/2 mile unless the port shuttle driver will drop you at the "secret" side exit from the port (this makes the walk only a few blocks).

Thanks Hank. Hertz is sold out for the day we are in port, so we were looking at other agencies. I found a Sixt car rental agency that is even closer to the port, so we will probably use them.
