Are rain pants advised on Alaska cruises?

I just sprayed my athletic/wind/fishing pants with waterproofing spray. Worked like a charm.

Great idea as I need to do that for my hiking boots and husband's jacket also. We live in a desert and usually have no need for rain gear except for vacations.

I spray - pants, jackets, shoes, hats and backpack. I figure if I completely insure against rain there won't be any.:D We leave Tuesday for our second Alaskan cruise. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

I just bought Helly Hansen waterproof rain pants on Amazon for $15. Not breathable and no pockets. The reviews were good for the intended purpose. Hope I don't need them, but they are not heavy rubber and will not take up much space. I will put them on over my pants if needed. Just a little insurance poicy : )
