Caribbean stud poker scam

Does anyone else think it is a scam that certain cruise lines will reset the progressive jackpot to the minimum amount after each cruise even though nobody hits a royal? I don't see lotteries doing this each week when nobody hits the big numbers. What a rip.

 I didn't know that. I'll have to check out the Legend when we sail in two weeks.

I love that game, so simple to play.

It's the only game I'll play while drinking:D

Yeah, I asked the dealer when was the last time someone hit a royal on this boat. She said she not while she was on the ship and that was for months. I think I might have had more money in my wallet than what was displayed on the jacpot counter. What a sham.

Letting players make this bet is the real rip. Odds of hitting a royal flush in five card stud are 649,740 to 1. Why anyone makes this sucker bet is amazing.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO ParrothdJH: Just think if someone hits with long odds of the huge payout they will receive? Notice in any game of chance how many people make really bad bets, sometimes, people hit them. That is why games of chance are called gambling instead of winning.

DH was not plaing it 2 years ago because it was his first time and didn't put that chip out well he hit a flush and would have won 5000.00 but only hit 500.00 he makes sure it is out thee now they don't know the cards the only thing is they change dealers on you real quick if they think that is coming out and that will change up the cards or they send someone in plan clothes to sit down and play to change them up.

... And why people who play games of pure chance against the odds are called "suckers."

Actually some play for the entertainment.

No. No one plays long-odds games in the hopes of a huge payout for "entertainment"; they play to win a huge payout. People play short-odds games (i.e. taking only slightly the worst of it) like blackjack for entertainment, because you lose your money slowly, and you win something frequently enough to be entertained by the prospect of winning something each time you play, though you will be a long-term loser. There is entertainment in that; there is no entertainment in playing the lottery or its equivalent. Long-odds games are strictly played in the hopes of getting lucky and thereby rich, however you define that word.

Going back to the original questions - is it a rip off?

No, it's the rules.

Does the casino make out big time? You bet! It makes the house odds that much bigger.

Now that you know it, if you play, I can't understand why you would get upset that they reset the pot each cruise. You know the trap.

That said, unfortunately, it is not publicized as well as I would like it to be. But, that's the way it is. If I don't like it, I don't have to play.

Who/what are you to say why people play different games? Are you the world's foremost authority on reasons for gambling? Or just because it's not entertaining for you it could not be entertaining for anyone else? Some people.

From a casino professional ..... They're not a scam. The cruiselines games are linked in to the other ships. While you may not see somebody hit on your ship, they may have hit it on the "ss somebody else's ship." It's just like we do in land based casinos, all the table's progressives are reset no matter what table a linked progressive hits on. It's just like playing the lottery folks. Are the odds in your favor? No. But you have a chance to win and you'll get paid if you win.
