What to do in Fairbanks

After our cruisetour we will have a full day to do something before our plane takes off at 9:30 pm. The day before we will be doing a riverboat cruise, gold panning and a trip to the "north pole", but I am looking for some ideas and suggestions for the next day. We will have to check out of our hotel in the morning so, what to do with the luggage is another question, and how far out of the way is the airport.

 

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated as always!

my friends just came back from fairbanks and they went to a hot springs. I believe it starts w/ a letter "C" but can't remember the first name, you could google it, and they just loved it.

Chena Hot Springs, they do have an Ice Museum, but, for me, this is a far better place in the winter.

 

A car rental is "necessary". Fairbanks is not good with buses, and cabs will eat up more costs and time than a rental car.

 

There is plenty to see and do. Fairbanks U has an excellent museum, botanical garden, Raindeer farm, Large Animal Research tour, that gets you a look at Muskox. Public Lands exhibits are excellent, the Ice Museum (if still open?? web site is from 2008), Creamer's Field, Pioneer Park etc etc.

Your hotel should be able to store your luggage while you spend the day touring. When you are ready to go to the airport, stop at the hotel and retrieve your luggage.
