Weather Question

We recently stopped in Aruba for a day and have decided to return for a week. Is the weather rather consistent year round...looking at a week early December.

Any hotel suggestions.....looking at either the Amsterdam or Radisson

Thanks

Weather is normally the same all year long, but within the last year there has been more rain than usual. Even the desert is green:eek: We were there for all of february and saw rain almost every day. Our friend said there was also a fair amount of rain non stop in november and december. But that can change. As for hotels both are nice with the amsterdam has a nice beach also.

Yes, last year was extremely rainy due to La Niña :(!

But, hopefully that is now a thing a of the past.

Rainfall Outlook for the Second Quarter of 2011

"Sea Surface Temperatures (SST) in the tropical Pacific Ocean have increased to near average values (weakening La Niña conditions) through the first quarter of 2011. In the tropical Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, the sea surface temperatures on the other hand have decreased and but are still slightly above average levels. Both of these conditions will lead to average or slightly above rainfall for both the ABC and the SSS islands during the second quarter of 2011 (April, May and June). "

December is traditionally the rainy season and this worried me a bit before our first trip to Aruba in December. HOWEVER, the worry was for nothing.

It did rain nearly everyday, BUT in the form of showers. In 13 days we had one day with early morning showers and an overcast afternoon and the other mornings showers and clearing about 3 pm. One day we did some sightseeing and the other we snorkeled. The second time we went in December, in 11 days we had one brief rain shower.

So, all in all, out of 11 days we had bright sunshine by 10 am with out a single shower the rest of the day. I'll take those odds any day ;) :)

A third time we were in Aruba during rainy season  we did not see a drop of rain. :D

On average receives 2.59" of rain in December with an annual rainfall of about 21".

Temperatures don't change much throughout the year but it can get a bit more humid in summer months. You have every reason to expect to have beautiful beach weather. Of course, when it comes to weather there are never any guarantees.

We love Aruba.

Have you decided to return to Aruba for a land vacation?

We did that after our first cruise there- and stayed at the radisson. Went two more years after that and now own a time share. is the best weeks vacation for us now.

We have had a timeshare in Aruba since 1995. We go the 1st Sunday of January every year. Rainy season used to start the last week of November, and then stop by the last day of December. It is not as reliable in the last few years,(somewhat thanks to global warming I would think) & we have had some torrential down pourings in the 1st week of Jan. That being said, the rain comes and goes very quickly when it comes(never lasting more than 1/2 hr or so), and never ruins our holidays. I would avoid going in December though, as you are guaranteed to get lots of rain then.
