Thanks so much! :) Where do you get all of these tremendous pictures?:D That is the penthouse on the Rotterdam. All the photos, except the Rotterdam Penthouse, are of cabins we have stayed in. The Penthouse photo came from HAL web page.

sail7seas Posted May 21, 2011 Author #180 Share Posted May 21, 2011 We stayed in Rotterdam's Penthouse in 2004 and that is, indeed, the photo. There is a curtain on a ceiling runner that can close off the bedroom from the sitting area. That's a beautiful cabin and your memory was correct about the curtain, Kazu........ just not about which cabin category. :D
Rare kazu Posted May 21, 2011 #181 Share Posted May 21, 2011 Such a shame. You were in the Penthouse Suite and did not realise it :D. Did you say it was an upsell? From what category? We had originally booked the highest level verandah suite. (A category). When our TA called us with the offer, I only heard the room suite and accepted it immediately (didn't even ask dh). I still can't believe it and feel very foolish:o don't know why we would have gotten an offer but sure wish I would have realized what we had accepted at the time - it was even a better deal than I had thought:)

peaches from georgia Posted May 21, 2011 #183 Share Posted May 21, 2011 We were given the Rotterdam PH when our S suite had a leak in the ceiling from the Lido area above, flooding our suite. It is much more than a curtained bed area, actually 4 separate areas- living/sitting room, bedroom, dining area with a large table for 8, and a small butler's pantry (mini-kitchen), plus an extra half bath-powder room. LOL. I can't imagine forgetting all of that! I'm sure the Prisendam will be a nice deluxe suite, but don't expect anything like the PH.
sail7seas Posted May 21, 2011 Author #184 Share Posted May 21, 2011 What is special about the sitting area is the wall of glass and the window seats along the wall. Even sitting at the desk overlooking the veranda and the view of the ocean when at sea. It's a really beautiful cabin. What I missed in there vs. our usual "S" Suite was the dressing table with sink. The desk area beside the bed was dark, I thought. As wonderfully large as the closet, I wasn't crazy about the wardrobe arrangement. But I loved having the extra half bath and the wonderful main bath. That tub was delicious. :)

Hawaiidan Posted May 21, 2011 #186 Share Posted May 21, 2011 1. enforce formal evening in the dining room to formal attire, I mean how hard is it 2 restrict children under 18 from certain dining hours , decks . pools etc. Many top class restauraunts will not book a child under 12 as a guest. Have a family area desiginated and adults only areas and enforce it 3. restrict cell pones from dining , public or lounges to many idiots walking around or talking loudly without a care for others
DutchByAssociation Posted May 21, 2011 #187 Share Posted May 21, 2011 The only curtained area in those suites can give privacy at the dressing room. This isn't the case on Prinsendam, but I also note you didn't mention the Prinsendam previously. There is a curtained area in those Deluxe Suites that separates the bedroom fully from the sitting area/balcony

MystyGirl Posted August 9, 2011 #193 Share Posted August 9, 2011 On my recent trip (3 weeks ago) on the Prinsendam - the Internet access was so slow that it took almost an hour to log on, access the airlines, check-in and print the boarding pass. Since many passengers wanted to do the same thing timeframe (24 hours before the flight), the network was overloaded. Not that it is ever really fast. carolmacey Posted August 10, 2011 #194 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I like the free internet for the suites - remember when they used to escort you to the suties and carry your carry ons? I know that's dream city, so I will settle for the free internet.:) They carried our luggage to our inside room as well.
carolmacey Posted August 10, 2011 #195 Share Posted August 10, 2011 Amen, sister. Whenever I went to get iced tea, I'd bring back three or four of the small glasses so I'd have enough. Imagine how much less dish washing there would be not to mention less energy and resources used in cleaning the dirty glasses. I go to a local $1 store before we cruise and buy the largest plastic glass they have. I take to the Lido, fill it, and enjoy it by the pool. I leave the glass behind in my cabin at the end of the cruise.
carolmacey Posted August 10, 2011 #196 Share Posted August 10, 2011 IMO HAL should put a stop to putting the clocks ahead at 2.00pm!!! On land this would result in chaos. This happened three times on Zaandam last week. john Really??2pm? I've always seen it done at 2 AM. 2PM would indeed be a fiasco! carolmacey Posted August 10, 2011 #197 Share Posted August 10, 2011 Back to the original thread...I would like to see lower prices for internet service for everyone :)and discount it more for 4 star Mariners. The prices seem very high especially when cruising on a Grand Voyage. DITTO, all this talk of suites if off topic.
boze9999 Posted August 10, 2011 #198 Share Posted August 10, 2011 I so agree with other suite or 3/4 star Mariners - An internet package good for the entire cruise! Perhaps the ability to get/pay for a cocktail in the Neptune Lounge?
ellieanne Posted August 10, 2011 #199 Share Posted August 10, 2011 Post the menu at both ends of the Lido. That way I don't have to walk the entire line to determine what's there, just to learn that the best choices are where I just came from. There is an easy fix for this -- come up to the Lido through the aft entrance...you'll be at the menu before the food. :D
ellieanne Posted August 10, 2011 #200 Share Posted August 10, 2011 A new one of mine to add:Make bigger glasses for iced tea available in the Lido We buy the sail-away drink specials -- in the tall glasses, keep, rinse and reuse the glasses whenever we are in the Lido. Have never had a problem refilling our own glass.
