UpcountryTravelers Posted May 14, 2011 #76 Share Posted May 14, 2011 Probably less of a queue at the casino. And not everyone is from the US to be able to get a roll of Quarters.;) our bank only provide notes. The slot machines no longer use quarters - or any coin. That's why I asked "why would the casino have quarters?". I didn't ask "why would you get them there?" I understand why you might not be able to get them before the cruise if you boarded at other than a U.S. port. That would be a time to go to the purser's desk. RickEk Posted May 16, 2011 #79 Share Posted May 16, 2011 NOw I have been reading another thread where they closed the laundry room due to environmental reasons. So I need more answers...... If I try and pack lighter will I be able to do laundry at all on ship.???? How di I find out? I had to spend time any time on land doing laundry, but maybe I will try that. ??????? As far as I know, the only time they close the laundry rooms is on Alaskan cruises.
spyro1952 Posted May 16, 2011 #80 Share Posted May 16, 2011 1. Very difficult to do laundry on Sea Princess as it's free and the machines are old and frequently break down - sail enough to get Elite and send it if you're on the Sea. 2. I try to do it early in the morning on port days, especially if I've been there before and don't have plans. I set my alarm, get there right at 7 am and usually done before breakfast. I also do not like anyone touching my clothes so I make sure I am there prior to the cycle finishing and I've never had a problem. 3. I have my quarters and Purex portable laundry sheets ready. I make sure I know where the laundry room is before I get on the ship. 4. I don't do more than 1 load at a time so I don't hog machines.:)
Loonbeam Posted May 16, 2011 #81 Share Posted May 16, 2011 Apparently there may also be short periods in the Med or Baltic where it can occur as well, but those are much more rare. As far as I know, the only time they close the laundry rooms is on Alaskan cruises.

July 2010, Coral Princess. Maybe they close it for certain periods of time, but we had no problems.

We did laundry last year on the Sea Princess on our sea days with no problems either.
