mtb242 Posted May 9, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2011 Your first cruise is a Trans-Atlantic? You are a bold, bold person! I just got off the Epic and still feeling my sea legs. Enjoy the ship! I wish I had gotten to taste more of the cookies and ice cream, and gone to the MDRs more than once.

tiyana4 Posted May 9, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2011 I am SOOO jealous! You picked a heck of a ship for your first cruise. Enjoy and take lots of pics.
CruisenLexie Posted May 9, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 9, 2011 You're done now....you've been bitten by the cruise bug....you may as well give in now and book your next one while you are on the ship :D Enjoy!
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted May 9, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2011 Have a GREAT time! It doesn't look like you'll be encountering "substantial" (14+ ft) waves. LINK Tom
thejuliet Posted May 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 9, 2011 My son and his room-mate are on the same cruise with you. He'll be at the poker table wearing a pair of board shorts from Target, as AA lost his luggage on the way to Miami. LOL.
apmecruise Posted May 9, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 9, 2011 We are off the Epic on April 23. I wished I had taken advantage of the $100 credit with a $250 deposit. Rebook right now! Don't think...just do it. At least pay the 250 credit. What I didn't understand is if I had done that onboard when I booked this cruise I wouldn't have to pay anything for the deposit (instead of the 500 I just shelled out). The Epic was our first cruise in 10 years and last week I booked another cruise on the Gem for September. Would have gone again on the Epic but the kids free special encouraged us to book a cruise where we didn't need to pay airfare to get to the departure port. We have been bitten...I will be booking another one once I get out on the Gem. My favorites: Howl at the Moon, Second City, Le Bistro, Martini tasting (you can share if you want). Things I am sad I missed: Wine tasting, beer tasting, meeting the Blue Men group when they had their own meet and greet, ice bar and enjoying snacks at Spice H20. Enjoy have fun!
mtb242 Posted May 9, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 9, 2011 My favorites: Martini tasting (you can share if you want). I'd recommend the sharing. I still don't know how I was standing after the martini tasting. Armando didn't either, when I showed back up later for another espresso martini. CruisinMaterial Posted May 9, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 9, 2011 Question: How has Spice H2O been since you're hard to sea now? Is it really windy up there? It was windy on our sailing in the Caribbean in March 2011 but I LOVE this venue anyway! Bust a move on the pool at Spice for me! :D
patseacruiser Posted May 9, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 9, 2011 @APMECRUISE - You can buy up to 4 per person cruise rewards and they are transferrable. So you pay $250 per cruise reward and it is good for the stateroom deposit when you do decide to book and you get $100 obc on the cruise you buy it on. So if you are a slot addict you can take that $100 obc and turn it into $125 in the slots on a special promotion and as you win keep taking the money out because the $125 is only for playing. If you like NCL it behooves you to buy a cruise reward. They are awesome.

CruzinMel Posted May 9, 2011 #15 Share Posted May 9, 2011 I hope you have a blast! We ran into a chatty tech guy who told us your sailing had about 2800 people on it, with about 1776 of them being 60 and older and 180 or so being over 80. Somebody else told us that they were expecting to be taking care of over 2000 Latitudes members. . . So are you seeing any crowding?

jarz85 Posted May 10, 2011 Author #19 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Thanks for all the replies! Had a sleep in this morning! You're done now....you've been bitten by the cruise bug....you may as well give in now and book your next one while you are on the ship :D Enjoy! We already had our 2nd cruise booked before we got on this one LOL Question: How has Spice H2O been since you're hard to sea now? Is it really windy up there? It was windy on our sailing in the Caribbean in March 2011 but I LOVE this venue anyway! Bust a move on the pool at Spice for me! :D There has not been much wind at all on this cruise... we had a CC sail away party at H2O on Saturday but it was so hot everyone went their own ways. It has not been windy at all on any of the top decks! I hope you have a blast! We ran into a chatty tech guy who told us your sailing had about 2800 people on it' date=' with about 1776 of them being 60 and older and 180 or so being over 80. Somebody else told us that they were expecting to be taking care of over 2000 Latitudes members. . . So are you seeing any crowding?[/quote'] The only time crowding has been an issue was when Blue Man Group finished and EVERYONE heads to Manhattan Room for dinner, to solve that problem we just west to Taste and got a seat no probs. We've had breakfast every morning up at the Garden Cafe and yesterday there was about 10 other people outside with us eating.... we really feel like we have the ship to ourselves! Today is the first day we have nothing planned, so can relax a little bit! Trivia got a bit full on yesterday, lots of arguing with the host over repeating questions  I thought trivia was meant to be fun! Well, Ill be keeping all of the dailies and will scan them when we get home in about 2 weeks!
CruisinMaterial Posted May 10, 2011 #20 Share Posted May 10, 2011 Is the ship booked at double occupancy capacity this sailing? That few people sitting outside on my cruise only happened when I was up at 6AM and we were in the port of Miami waiting for debark.:D

That few people sitting outside on my cruise only happened when I was up at 6AM and we were in the port of Miami waiting for debark.:D Apparently there is less than 3000 people on the ship! When we went to the Ice Bar the other night it was only 6 of us from our roll call in there!!! So glad your first cruise is a great one:) Wishing you BIG waves:D:D We will be sailing with you on the BIG APPLE TO BIG EASY Star Cruise next year!! Thanks for the wish... last night wasnt a very good one for me! The wind picked up a lot and the ship is swaying side to side.. kinda feels likes airplane turbulence! Plus we went to Modernos and I kinda ate too much hah so that didnt help! Really looking forward to the cruise in 2012

slotaddict Posted May 11, 2011 #25 Share Posted May 11, 2011 Jarz, I would be interested to know how the ship handles a bigger wave. We were on the 4/30 sailing and I swear I never felt like I was on a ship..It was great....
