DH and I heading out in 23 days to Alaska and I am wondering if there is a better time for a whale watch, morning (9-2) or an afternoon cruise (12:30 to 5)?

Looking for opinions....thanks!!!!

the whales are out there 24/7, most of the time the only thing you will see are fins/flippers/tails/backs and blows. since you are going early in the season, some may still be hungry from the long migration...hope you get to see "bubble feeding" and other activities.

we weren't that lucky, but had great time anyway.

if it was me, i would go out both times. can't get enough of humpbacks.

Makes no difference the time. Bubble net feeding, is, many times, a later season feeding behavior.

It's tails (flukes) backs and blows that are usually seen. Expect nothing else.
