Casey2 Posted March 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2005 We will be arriving in Juneau at 12 noon. We plan to do whale watching with Captiain Larry at 3:00. We would like to go to the Mendenhal Glacier which will not leave us any time for walking around Juneau or taking the tram. Is there much to see in Juneau that we would be missing if we do this? If there is then maybe we would skip the glacier and stay in town until 3:00. I would appreciate any feedback. Budget Queen Posted March 15, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2005 Yes there is plenty to see in Juneau, perhaps a look at their visitor guide will sort things out for your priorities??? http://www.traveljuneau.com You really don't have to firm this up until you get there? Since you are going late season, it may not be a good choice to go to Mendenhall if it's cold and raining, neither Mt. Roberts either if it's fogged out. The museums downtown are just walk ins. You will have a view of Mendenhall to/from your whale watch shuttle.
vijoge Posted March 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 15, 2005 We originally planned to go with Captain Larry at 3:30 and then go to Mendenhall but when we called to book we were told that if we did the 3:30 tour the visitor's center would be closed by the time we got back from whale watching. We booked the 6 Pm excursion instead and we'll go to the glacier first.
