TallyHo1 Posted May 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2011 Hi all! We are booked on the Odyssey Aug 29 7 days Athens to Istanbul. (Our first cruise with anyone ever.) But this leg is the second one for passengers who are traveling 14 days Venice to Istanbul. We are told that one can't pre-book Restaurant2 before we board the ship. However, at that point mightn't the 14 day passengers have fully filled all the available reservations for Restaurant2? Seabourn says don't worry about it. But what has anyone else's experience been in a smilar situation? Thanks! ps - we're really looking forward to this!
margbem Posted May 18, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2011 On the small ships you reserve 48 hours in advance. I presume it's the same on the new ships but someone will tell you knows the system. Enjoy Seabourn - you're in for a treat!
JaneBP Posted May 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2011 Not everyone is in love with Restaurant 2 so there should be plenty of open reservations. In addition, often there are same day cancellations.
wripro Posted May 18, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2011 I believe it's still a 48 hours prior reservation system so you will be fine. I'd check at Seabourn Square as soon as you embark.
LEESRE Posted May 18, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2011 Web sailed on Sojourn recently, on the segment 6 of the world cruise and no we dound it quite easy to book Restaurant2. When you arrive just go to Seabourn Square and they have menus for you to look at and then just book. It is not 48 hours but you can book for the whole cruise if you want. Must say most people did it once and then went back to the MDR or Colonnade. It was not to our taste.
Paulchili Posted May 18, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2011 wripro & LEESRE, How often does the menu here change? Can one find out well ahead of time what the menu is and then pick the night it suits best?

Can one find out well ahead of time what the menu is and then pick the night it suits best? We found that the menu changed every evening, yes if you go to Seabourn Square and ask they will print out the menu for each evening and then you can choose which evening or evenings you would prefer. BrentC Posted May 19, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 19, 2011 My wife and I just sailed the full 14 days from Venice to Istanbul on the Odyssey and had no trouble getting reservations in R2 the second week after the new passengers embarked in Athens. On this particular cruise, there were only two different menus - one the entire first week and then a different one the entire second week. You'll love the Odyssey and its staff! Enjoy the sail! Thank you - that sounds good. Yet BrentC reports that on their cruise the menu changed only weekly. We'll see which one is the case on our cruise. wripro Posted May 19, 2011 #12 Share Posted May 19, 2011 I think it depends on the cruise, Paul. sometimes they chance once a week, other times every night or two. As stated previously check at Seabourn Square.
