I would call carnival and tell them which ship if they need to get a message to you. if its a huge emergency they will get a message to you if there is a death or something.

If they call you on the ship, its going to cost them a arm and two legs. I think its even more expensive than the $7.99 per minute for you to call them.

From Carnival:

Friends and family may call guests on board via Sea Mobile Shore-to-Ship telephone service. The rate is $9.50 per minute from the United States; additional long distance charges may apply from outside the United States.

1-877-CCLSHIP (1-877-225-7447) – from the U.S

1-732-335-3284 - from outside the U.S

The caller needs to have available the ship name and the guest's name. The charges will be applied to the caller's credit card: MasterCard; Visa; American Express; The Discover Card; Diner's Club.

Thanks for the info!

What would really piss me off ('scuse my french), if they called me at $10 a minute .. and I wasnt in the cabin, so they left a message at that $10 per minute.

They will be charged even if you arent in the cabin at the time.

I touch base with my parents, who are older, when Im in the ports, either call or email at a computer cafe, much cheaper way to stay in touch.

I believe that if you leave your phone on , International service

you incur roaming charges ,with messages ,ect , So you get

charges even if not talking on the phone , Maybe someone here can

explain it better

My Mother has finally quit asking for a number to reach me at when I am on a cruise or a Canadian fishing trip, it took years.

Mom: "what if there is an emergency?"

Me: "what possible emergency could warrant calling me in the middle of no where?"

Mom: "What if someone dies?"

Me: "will they still be dead when I get back"

Mom: "well, yes" said with exasperation

Me: "then why would you want to ruin my vacation?"
