OK, so here is our latest itinerary for independant land tour followed by a southbound Island Princess cruise in June 2012.

 

Sunday

Day 1 --- Fly to Fairbanks

Check-in Hotel, Explore local area

 

Monday

Day 2 --- Tour Fairbanks

Explore in and around Fairbanks

 

Tuesday

Day 3 --- Tour Fairbanks

Explore in and around Fairbanks

 

Wednesday

Day 4 --- Train to Denali

Visitor Center and Savage River areas

 

Thursday

Day 5 --- TWT or Shuttle into Denali

After Park attend Dog Sled Demo and Dinner theater

 

Friday

Day 6 --- Train to Anchorage

See anything missed in Denali in Morning before Train

 

Saturday

Day 7--- Tour Anchorage

Day trip to Turnagain Arm and Mt. Alyeska

Sunday

 

Day 8--- Tour Anchorage

Explore in and around Anchorage

Monday

 

Day 9 --- Train to Seward

Explore in and around Seward

Tuesday

 

Day 10 --- Tour Seward

Explore in and around Seward

Wednesday

 

Day 11 --- PJs Taxi to Ship

Explore in and around Seward and Whittier, explore ship and start cruise

 

What do you all think? Is this a well-balanced itinerary?

 

The choices are either start the land tour on June 3rd and the cruise on June 13th OR start the land tour on June 17th and the cruise on June 27th. What are the pros and cons of these two dates? Will the weather be much different? Will everything be open and accessible if we start on June 3rd?
