We are leaving on June 4 for a 8 nights on the Freedom. I am trying to decide how much to pack. So far: 2 sundresses, 4 capris (white, Khaki, blue, and brown) 4 shorts, and 8 tops, bathing suit (2). Do I need less or more???

That all sounds good but don't forget your formal night outfits. Typically on an 8 day there will be 2 formal nights. Some go a little casual even on formal nights. Us, we like to do it up since we don't normally go out for formal dinners at home.

Something I've started doing is bring a nicer comfy top that I could wear during the day but nice enough for dinner. I wear one at dinner (because I will have showered right after a sweaty day) and then I will wear it during the day another time. Cuts down on the packing a bit. And DH knows he will buys a tshirt in each port. So he packs knowing he will have new shirts to wear.

This will be our 12th cruise so we go pretty casual (yet appropriate) at dinner now.

To know I have packed enough I try and figure out what I am going to wear each day. I lay my clothes out in days, I figure what I am going to wear from hour to hour, that way I know I have enough. I also pack a jacket or pull over in case the ships A/C is crankin. Not that I mind the ship on the cold side I love it. If your going to swim at all bring an extra bathing suit as the ones in the cabins often have a hard time drying. We used the window this time to dry out some stuff. Just laid it out on the counter, that worked great. Didn't look to good so as soon as stuff was dry it was put away. I always change after dinner as I prefer to be more casual so that is accounted for as well. I don't fly in so my packing options are huge! I will have to look for a ship with a washer if we fly in for any trips such as Alaska.

We all brought a nice looking zip front sweatshirt. Came in handy in both the MDR some nights, outside strolling on the deck and watching the shows in the theater.

I only took 2 pairs capris and 1 pair cotton slacks. 3 pairs shorts. 3 tank tops. Bought t-shirts on the ship and in port. One dress you can roll up in a ball and it still looks good. 2 swim suits and 1 cover-up. 3 pairs of shoes: sandals, good sandals and my crocs.

I would not want to wear jeans in the Caribbean!

When are you wearing the capris? Dinner? Shorts? I think you have too many shorts/capris!!! I too would recommend making a list day by day depending on your activity and what you will be wearing - and there are some things you can probably wear twice? And dont' forget the 2 formal nights!

You also need to add the 'shoes', accessories, sunhats, etc!

Have fun :D

We usually overpack the amount of clothes we think we will need. On sea days, I usually end up wearing my bathing suit and nice coverup most of the day. We always drive to the port so we also leave a clean change of clothes in our car that we can put on for the 8 hour drive home. I just put on what I wore the night before to get off the boat then stop and change. That eliminates having to carry as many clothes onboard.

I would actually say add another 2-3 shirts in depending on how many ports you visit. You will get hot and sweaty walking around and will want to change once you get back.

I probably over pack, but I bring several dresses that I love, just little summer dresses that take up no room, I have 4 pairs of capris and 8 shirts for a 5 day cruise. Granted we are going the night before so I need 6 days worth. And one formal type dress. I will wear the summer dresses to dinner most nights and the capris in the day. I also bring two "sweat/jogging suit" type outfits for early morning breakfasts because the ship is often cold in the morning so I can look decent and be warm! Don't forget the PJs!

I feel as long as you wear everything (or almost everything) you bring, thn you're not over packed. For some people, this could mean 3 outfits a day!

What ports are you going to and what excursions will you do? That can effect your packing list. Sometimes I get back from a port and shower and change into a new outfit before changing into something nice for dinner.

We are going to Cozumel, Costa Rica and Panama. I will wear the capris at night and the 2 sundress on formal nights. I am hoping to wear a couple of the capris more than once with a different top. Since we are flying, I am trying to pack everything in 1 suitcase plus my backpack. I am packing dress sandals, flip flops and tennis shoes. My DH says don't worry about it. But I don't want to run out of things to wear...but then again...that means I could buy an outfit or 2!

I have 3 x 5 cards that say labled day 1 - 7 and evening 1-7 also cards for pre and post cruise stays. I lay them out on the bed and start putting together outfits, complete with undies, shoes, jewerly. I try to use things more than once. EX long flowing black pants, 3 separate tops for 3 evenings. Jeans with 3 separate tops for 3 days. Solid shorts with 2-3 sep tops for 2-3 days. I look see what I can mix together for different looks. Of course 2 bathing suit, as no one likes to put on a wet suit. I always bring a this hanger thingy that has 8 clothes pins attached to it for washing out swim suits and undies to reuse. We are Platinum, but I am afraid the laundry will shrink my clothes. I do that myself, just by eating:) I get snack size ziplock bags and put each days meds and vitamins in with the date so I remember if I have taken them and so I am sure to have enough. I write everything down as I pack it so I am sure it went into the suitcase. I pack pre and post cruise items in a separate bag (we drive) so I do not have to open my cruise luggage once it is packed. All of our personal hyg and meds go with us at all times.

I agree I wouldn't wear them in port or on the beach.......but they are so warm and comfy on the ship especially while playing in the casino...some of those ships can get so dang cold.....
