Laundry Rooms on Carnival Ships

This question has likely been answered before, but what do they have in the laundry rooms on ships? My wife is wondering if she needs to bring laundry detergent if she wants to wash clothes. Also, do you need quarters for the machines? Thanks!

Yes, there are laundry rooms on the ships. You will need lots of quarters, unless you get some from Guest Services. $3 each load to wash and dry, plus the cost of detergent. Bringing a small box of detergent is a great idea.

I used the laundry on the freedom when we were on a 12 day cruise. It also had an iron there.

Another good idea for posters, You go to Wal=mart where they sell the small travel products

most of the time near the shampoo area. You can buy small packs of soaps. Easy and will not crush like small soap boxes.. Have a ball on your next cruise......Freedom 2012...

I just take some deterent with me in a baggie or if liguid in a small container. I always take Woolite for in the cabin laundry of undies and light blouses, a small container of Spray and wash and a small container of Downey Wrinkle Releaser. ( I keep trying that on my face and it just doesn't work:)

I bring the Purex 3 -1 detergent sheets that are detergent-softener-antistatic. They're awesome and easy to pack.

correct me if I am wrong(I'm sure someone will) but I think all ships have some sort of Public Laundry to use. Like others have said they can be on the Pricey side but hey at least they don't charge for the Irons:D

wash $3 - dry $3 - fold you do it - time - a couple hours of your time

 

I always makes use of the "Fill a bag for $15" wash/dry/fold returned same day (offered part way through the cruise)

 

I will have 2 light weight pants - 3 summer shorts - 5 Ts - 3 shells - 2 polos - 2 men's dress shirts done and worth every penny

It lists the laundry rooms and their locations for each ship. I have found it to be very accurate ... and most helpful when planning a cruise! :)

I like the purex sheets, also.

We do one or two loads on port days, as found them to be less crowded.

Would do the $15 bag, but just cannot stand for someone else to do my laundry.

Another vote for the Purex sheets. I cut them in half (lengthwise) to use in smaller machines.

 

You can get quarters at the casino or Guest Services.

I've also heard that the $15.00 special comes later in the cruise, so it is designed more for saving you some work and time at home. There have been several comments that the service will shrink your clothes. I haven't used the service, so this isn't first hand.

It is near the end but not right at the end and this is usually when I need some clothes as I pack light. In all the times I have used the service not once did I have a problem with shrinkage. This service is for clothes that can be washed and dried at regular settings - no option for delicates, wool blends, etc - everything goes into an industrial dryer. This service is especially useful on a back to back. I ditto the ironing first thing in the morning (especially elegant evenings) as the line ups are horrendous then

We have had our laundry done in the past with the special (usually on Wednesday if I recall correctly) and on our next cruise will take advantage of free laundry for platinum cruisers. They never caused any shrinkage - the dining room does that!:eek: Key to sending out your laundry - if it cannot be washed in extremely hot water, and dried the same - then do not send it out. Always prewash clothing before the cruise as you never know what is going to shrink! There are usually 3 washers and dryers (Spirit Class is only time I did my own). Hope you have a great cruise!

my next cruise I am taking a roll of quarters and a couple of dryer sheets. The small boxes of detergent are $1 but all they have is liquid fabric softener. Doing laundry was no biggie, the washer runs for 25 minutes...throw it in and come back. You get an hour and half on the dryer but it only took like a half hour to dry.

 

Please watch the time and be considerate, sometimes people are waiting to use the laundry when yours is done.:)

The Liberty has laundry rooms. I used it last time I was on it so that I would not have to bring back too much dirty laundry.
